Birthday Brunch - Never Too Late to Celebrate

December is so busy, and while the girls tried to plan a birthday brunch for me then, K and I were heading to Charleston and then the holidays rang in so everyone was booked with family functions or traveling for the Holidays.

Always Celebrate

The highlight of the weekend was celebrating JQ's birthday on Sunday and getting to catch up with friends.

Wedding Weekend Fun

The past few weekends have all been filled with different celebrations - bridal showers, birthday parties, travel adventures, baby showers - and this weekend was no exception.

Weekend: Neighborly Love

Since returning home from Canada on Monday night after many delays, it's been a bit of a struggle getting back into the swing of things especially since K left Tuesday morning for the whole week for work.

Weekending - Mid July

Rest, relaxation, some shopping and fun with friends pretty much sums up the weekend.

Mother's Day Weekend

After a long day of work on Friday, I came home to some fresh Lilies and a card from Lola for Mother's Day. Such a sweet surprise.

Weekend Happenings

The weekend was a relaxing one. The extent of my fun was at a Baby Shower luncheon yesterday. The bubbles, Asian-fusion dishes, and catching up with friends made it the perfect way to cap off the weekend.

Weekend Happenings

The weekend was a mix of relaxing and fun over here. After work on Friday I met up with K for a quick happy hour drink and then Thai takeout for dinner.

Weekend Whereabouts

I didn't get around to blogging on Friday so I'll start with a quick recap of Halloween. We bought tons of candy to give out to the neighborhood kids but it was a fairly slow night leaving us with a dangerous amount of leftovers. I made a tutu for Lola's costume which was sparkly and cute but malfunctioned horribly the entire night so that was a major flop on my behalf. Either way the neighborhood kids loved Ballerina Bulldog.

Friday night was a quiet one at home. We watched Neighbors 2 and relaxed. Most of Saturday was spent furniture shopping to pick up the final pieces for our house. K and I got our cars detailed and then settled for some dinner and drinks before heading home. Nothing fantastically exciting to report.

On Sunday, I enjoyed the time change and used that as an excuse to get a little extra sleep. Once we were up and about, we decided it was the perfect day for some brunch and bubbles. My pineapple mimosa and eggs benedict were just what the doctor ordered!

This week is going to be a crazy busy one at work and party planning for next weekend.

Favorite Brunch Spots in the US

When we travel for quick weekend trips within the US, I usually pick a must-try brunch spot ahead of time so we can eat and experience brunch in new settings. I'm sure the list of excellent brunch spots within the US is very lengthy but these are my favorite gems that offered an amazing experience. Titles are clickable if you want to read my reviews.

Bridge House Tavern - Chicago

Mr. B's Bistro - New Orleans

Pinewood Social - Nashville

Ophelia's Electric Soapbox - Denver

Maxine's on Shine - Orlando

Ok now I'm craving brunch. Is it the weekend yet?

Brunch: My Favorite Weekend Meal

I'm sure that takes you by no surprise for those that follow along frequently! My weekends often involve Sunday brunch whether at home or at a nifty restaurant to gather with friends.

Brunch is the perfect way to celebrate a baby shower, bridal shower, birthday or even if you just need a reason to celebrate the weekend. I found some creative brunch party ideas on FTD's blog that I wanted to share.

From creative DIY floral ice cubes and ice buckets to floral tablescape decor, there are plenty of genius ways to host a memorable brunch party at home.

Their website gave me many cute ideas, I already want to gather up the girls and get the champagne poppin!

After helping to host Kate's Brunch & Baby Shower a few weeks ago, I'm already looking forward to having another brunch at home for future celebrations to come.

Easter Weekend Getaway

So Monday may not be my best friend but recapping a fun-filled weekend definitely makes up for it. K and I had a lovely yet short getaway spent in St. Augustine, Florida. It's an enchanting little city with lots of history and sites to see. It kind of reminds me of Savannah, GA but with it's own different appeal which comes in the form of antique shopping, cute restaurants, and the Castillo de San Marcos fort which is the oldest American fort built in the 17th century.

K and I both had Good Friday off of work so we headed north to St Augustine after dropping Lola off at Kate's who kindly agreed to puppy sit. We arrived around lunchtime which was perfect to grab some Spanish/Cuban style cuisine at the famous Columbia Restaurant. Their Mojitos are on point and the 1905 Salad is a must!

I plan to recap all the wonderful things St. Augustine has to offer for our Wanderlust Wednesday travel link on April 13th. Don't forget to join Kate, Kerri and myself with your favorite travel adventures whether it may be new or old.

We spent all of Friday walking around and exploring the historic district. It was an overcast and rainy day but we didn't let that ruin our fun.

For dinner we settled at Harry's Seafood Bar & Grill for some amazing New Orleans style food. This place is a must if you're ever in St Augustine.

After dinner we capped the night off with a dirty martini from the Tini Martini bar and had a relaxing night after that.

Saturday morning came too soon but we started the day with some amazing Brunch from Casablanca Inn after checking out of our hotel. We walked off the food by exploring the bay front and some other historic sites.

On Saturday evening we picked up Lola from Kate's house and we all headed out for an early dinner at 4th Street Bar & Grill. I didn't manage to get many photos but it was fun catching up with Kate and her hubby.

I hosted Easter dinner yesterday for close friends and will post the details and yummy recipes tomorrow.

Weekend Whereabouts

Hey hey! Hope this Monday treats you well.

I had a pretty quiet weekend and only ventured out for some errands on Saturday and then brunch on Sunday with K so not many exciting things to share.

K was in Atlanta for a convention from Thursday to late Saturday night so I decided to have a quiet night at home on Friday after a stressful week. I arrived home to some pretty goodies in the mail from Phax Swimwear (sharing more details later this week). Lola also got lots of snuggle time with mom.

I rented The Intern movie on Friday but was too mentally exhausted to watch it until Saturday morning and I really loved the movie and whole story-line. Uplifting to say the least!

After the movie, I went out to do some errands before heading home to clean and get the house organized. I had all intentions of going downtown to the Food & Wine Festival but decided against it and just stayed home to relax, blog and watch some TV. K returned home late Saturday night just before I was heading to sleep.

Sunday was "date day" with K so we headed downtown to Dexter's for some brunch with Lola in tote. I made sure to get most of the errands, cleaning and food prep done on Saturday so we could just spend time together on Sunday and relax.

After brunch we met up with some friends at 903 Mills Market so Lola and her best friend Louie could play while we caught up with friends.

It was a very relaxing weekend with some sunshine and fun mixed in there.

How was your weekend?

Hosting Brunch at Home

It's no secret I'm a big fan of brunch food and luckily Orlando has some amazing brunch spots to chose from when we have a free Sunday. It's also a great time to reconnect with friends and end the weekend with some good food. I've never hosted brunch at home but I think 2016 is the year to finally make it happen. Here's some great brunch menu food and drink recipes that would make a great Sunday Brunch spread for entertaining guests.

Baked Eggs in Prosciutto filled Portobello Mushrooms

French Toast Sticks

Breakfast Pizza

Poppy Seed Pancakes

Ham & Cheese Spinach Puffs

Brussel Sprout Hash with Soft Poached Eggs
Cantaloupe and Raspberry Yogurt Parfait

And some delicious drink ideas for Sunday brunch.

Cranberry Brunch Punch

The Ultimate Blood Mary

Mimosa Bar

And some strawberry infused water for rehydration.
