Forgetful Me

I should probably be ashamed of some of the foolish/forgetful things I've done and/or continue to do. I will chock some of it up to being human but I often joke about having the memory of an 80+ year old and you'll probably think the same after reading this post.

30 Random Facts About Me

Happy Friday!

I'm back from our cruise and recovering from vacation mode. That's a thing right? Needing a vacation after your vacation? At least the weekend is near and will give me some time get back into my routine and also get all my photos from the trip organized. I got some great shots in Cuba and can't wait to share.

A Friday Q&A

I'm so grateful Friday has made her appearance which means the weekend is near. I'm dying for some relaxing after a crazy busy week at work and horrendous traffic on my commute almost every evening. Those two combined left me with very little time to really unwind at home before it was time for bed to start the work routine again. No alarm clock tomorrow puts the biggest smile on my face.

About Me in Three's

I rarely ever do "about me" posts but I recently read Andrea's Three Things and thought it would be fun to share some tidbits about me so here you have it...

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers

One of my favorite bloggers Pinky from Pink Persistence tagged me in her Sisterhood of the World Bloggers post and I wanted to share my answers to her questions. Some of this stuff I probably haven't talked about on my blog so it'll also help some of you get to know me better.

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2008 for work but didn't get into lifestyle blogging until Kate and I became friends. She pretty much convinced me to give it a try in 2012 when I started Martinis & Bikinis and here I am today still trucking blogging along!

2. Who would you want to play in a movie?
I love anything with Drew Barrymore. I can't think of a particular role. Since I'm not a huge TV person, actors and actresses are something I'm not very in tune with.

3. If you could travel anywhere tomorrow where would you go?
My travel list is miles long but I would choose to fly over to Europe so I can hop around and visit as many countries as possible. The Greek Islands being the top of my list. I'd love to take a cruise that takes you to three or four of the islands.

4. What is your favorite/least favorite thing about blogging?
I love blogging mainly because of the friendships you make and the interesting people you get to connect with all around the world. As for my least favorite thing, I would say the time-consuming aspect to it especially when you work a full-time job. Sometimes it can be stressful keeping up with everything. I also struggle with how much personal information to share considering anyone can be reading your blog.

5. Where do you turn when you have writer's block?
I usually take a break for a day or two to regroup my thoughts. During that time, I find inspiration from Pinterest, things happening in my life and around me (Facebook sometimes), shopping deals, current events, and going through my photos, conversations with friends etc.

6. What are your favorite kind of posts to read?
I like a variety of posts just like I write about a variety of things  ~ anything related to travel, fashion, recipes, personal life events, tutorials and funny stories are probably the top of my list.

7. Is your hair your natural color?
Not any more. I was blonde all through childhood but my hair slowly starting getting darker during my teens to an ashy gross blonde/brown color so I've been getting highlights done for a while now. I've also used box dyes to lighten my hair in the past. I did try going brunette years ago but I don't think it suits me at all!

8. What is your favorite decade and why?
I've never really contemplated this but I'm digging this decade. I'm a lover of technology so it would only be appropriate. Although the bright colors, high-top shoes, big hairstyles, and puff paint in the 90s were fun too.

9. Have you dealt with blog drama (mean comments, dramatic people, fake friends)? If so, how did you deal?
Luckily I have not. I try to keep personal details about my life unspoken on my blog. I feel that's the stuff that leaves you most open to scrutiny but I could be wrong. I am an honest and transparent person in real life but I don't think the world needs to know the nitty-gritty of my life. Trolls will be trolls though.

10. If you could have any job in the world what would you do?
I would love to work with Children Social Services but I'm sure that would have it's challenges. A Crime Scene Investigator is also very intriguing to me but I'm not sure I could stomach it.

I don't particularly like tagging others in posts so whoever wants to play along with Sisterhood of the World Bloggers, you can use the questions above and share your answers. I'd love to read about you so feel free to send me the link to your post!

#TotalSocial: There's a First for Everything

I'm excited to join Helene and Sarah today for their new #TotalSocial linkup and since there's a first time for (almost) everything that's what I'll be sharing today.
Helene in Between

One thing I wasn't blessed with is a good memory so remembering exact dates/ages is a hit or miss but I'll attempt to give it a go!

First car:
 Hyundai accent, manual transmission.
Couldn't drive it off the lot by the way. Took another couple weeks to figure out how to shift the gears *die*

First sports:
Swimming & ballet. Those are sports right?

First time shaving:
10 yo without permission from my parents.

First pet:
A pomeranian named Rosie. He was a male pup btw.

First paying job:
Around 14 yo working in the mall at a home decor store.

First car accident:
Ran into the back of another car while trying to merge only 3 weeks after getting my license. Dad was in the passenger seat so he dealt with the other driver and insurance etc cause lawd knows I wouldn't know what to do.

First concert:
Journey & some other bands. The concert got rained out and I was knee-high in mud by the end. A sight for sore eyes when I finally returned home to my parents.

First regrettable hair style:
That hideous boy cut I got when I was 8 or 9. Remind me to burn all the evidence!

First time purchasing a home:
Three years ago in March 2011

Facts of Martini-Loving Me

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to join in on Whitney's Facts of Me Blog Hop.

 Sooo let's see....

#1: Dirty Martinis with blue-cheese stuff olives are my favorite. I'm also a big wine lover too (red or white).

#2: I'm infatuated with Asian food (Thai, Sushi, Japanese, Vietnamese etc. etc..). Many of the local Asian restaurants know me by name & know I'll be ordering the "usual".

#3: K and I met at a bar. So, yea it does happen. Mutual friends did introduce us though.

#4: My life is planned by writing lists. I have to write down my to-dos for the week or nothing will get done. Or, I mean, I just won't remember to do sh*t.

#5: My late grandmother was the love of my life. As you can see, she had a great sense of humor :-)

#7: I was in a British movie when I was 9 called The Humming-Bird Tree.

#8: I've never broken a bone or gotten stitches..and hopefully that stays that way..

#9: Beer & wings at a sports bar wins my heart any day over getting all dolled up to go to a fancy club.

#10: I have two closets full of heels that I never wear. I always end up choosing to wear flip flops or comfy shoes. I keep buying these sexy looking things that "will look great with that dress" but they end up just building dust. It's a serious problem :-/

#11: I love anything to do with Buddhism. It's not my religion but I'm just drawn to many of the beliefs & quotes. I also have several Buddha statues decorated throughout my house.
 Thanks for reading!
