Super Bowl Weekend

I'm not going to lie and say I'm big into football. I actually know very little about the sport despite being married to one of the biggest football fans ever but, when someone throws a party, I'm all about the mingling. This is how the weekend played out...

Football, Fall Decorating & a Food Festival

Lots of relaxing on Friday night into Saturday morning then we were off to get some groceries and errands done before stopping off at Rock & Brews for a couple hours to have lunch and watch football.

The Draft Weekend

I got home from work on Friday to a baffling piece of mail. A card addressed to me and the return address was also my home address. So I opened the card and it was signed with my husband's name so I laughed and said "why did you mail me this?" Not realizing that it wasn't even K's handwriting. Anyways let's just say his friends are joksters. And football season is important. Like rules their life important! I got the memo anonymous sender (Ahem... MJ!).

K and I then headed out to Ale House for some dinner and spent the rest of the night relaxing at home which was perfect after a crazy busy week.

Saturday was all about K's live fantasy football draft which the guys do every year. They come from near and far to set up their football teams for the season. It's a big deal for them and the ladies come to help out and hang out.

I'm not a football lover. Probably because I didn't grow up in the US and wasn't raised with it all around so it's not something that's in my blood but I'm married to an extreme football lover and appreciate it for what it is. Plus beer and good food, right? I'll never be a party pooper and have always enjoyed football parties even though I don't sit on the couch watching it myself.

It was a fun day catching up with the girls and all the new babies while the guys focused on building their teams.

On Sunday we met up with some friends for lunch at Twin Peaks which is right across from the Orlando Eye on International Drive. It's a cool spot to watch sports and have a couple beers.

After lunch we stopped at World of Beer on the way home to take a friend visiting from San Francisco out for a drink. I tried a flight of wheat beers and waited for the rainstorm to pass.

The rest of Sunday was spent at home doing my usual blogging, laundry, and food prep routine plus entertaining our visitor. We just grilled some steaks and corn on the cob for dinner and hung out.

How was your weekend?

The Super Bowl Food Table

The big game is this weekend and it's always fun getting together with friends to eat, drink and root for your favorite teams. I made pizza dip last year and have been searching for some new ideas to make for a friend's Super Bowl get-together on Sunday.

Football Appetizers & Entertaining

It's certainly hard for calorie-counting around football season. Everyone knows pizza and beer are consumed in copious amounts during this time. I know we'll be attending a few football parties this season so I went on the hunt for some fun and festive appetizer, finger food and dessert recipes that I thought I would share.

Weekend Happenings

I finally got that relaxing weekend I had been craving which included some sleeping in (thanks to my new blackout curtains), shopping, vegging and a little QT with friends that came in town to visit.

On Friday night, K and I went out to try the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant that opened in town. It was SO good! K loved the steak he ordered and I had the best Caesar salad ever with some fall-off-the-bone ribs. Definitely recommend this place for good BBQ if you have one in the area.

On Saturday, I got the day to myself to do some errands and shopping while K went out with friends to do their live fantasy football draft. I picked up this 2-piece art set for our master bedroom from Marshall's.

K came home later in the evening with another piece of "decor" he wants displayed in our living room. Ummm no and no. LOL. This might have to go to his office or somewhere out of sight!

A couple friends from Tampa stayed the night with us after the football draft so we ordered some Italian food for dinner and hung out at the house.

On Sunday morning, I cooked up a breakfast casserole for our guests before they hit the road to head home. I spent the rest of the day Skyping with one of my best friends to help her plan her wedding in Barbados next year and did some stuff around the house.

The new artwork went up in our room. I think the wall still looks a little bare but it will do until we get the walls painted a darker color.

And then came time for more cooking. I told you I had a vegging kind of weekend. Grilled chicken peanut satay was on Sunday's dinner menu with sauce from Trader Joes, which is excellent!

Super Bowl XLVII Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and a not-so-terrible Monday!

On Friday night K and I went on a dinner date which is our favorite thing to do on a Friday. I had a pretty Berry Mojito to unwind after a long work week.

On Saturday we picked up our weekend guests from the airport and caught up at home for a few hours. Then we all headed out for a fun night out on the town.

We went to Universal's City Walk and hopped around to all the bars which each have a different theme of music - Reggae, a Dance Club, a Karaoke bar, an Irish Dueling Piano bar and lots more. It was truly one of the funnest nights I've had in a while!

On Sunday morning, we drove out to the coast to drop our guests off at the Cruise ship port since they were leaving for the Bahamas. We had lunch with them at a local beach restaurant/bar and then said our goodbyes.

We headed back to town for a friend's Superbowl party on Sunday night. Everyone brought a different dish and some drinks and we even had some cake to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Another fabulous weekend with good friends!
