The Weatherman Should be Fired

Last week I had all these fun plans to hit the beach on the weekend. Well the weather was too awful for that. In fact, a tornado came through yesterday and hit our house pretty badly leaving us without power for about 3 hours.
My neighbors fence took a hit
Another fence in our neighborhood
It was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced!! Everything is okay and no one was hurt. Only a few shingles were lost along with my patio furniture.

On a lighter note, K and I had a pretty relaxing weekend.  On Friday night, we went out for our usual dinner and drinks. We also stopped at an Irish pub for a few more drinks before heading home.

On Saturday, we did a bunch of errands and then ended up grabing a late lunch at Bahama Breeze. We enjoyed some live music and tropical beverages on the patio.
Conch Fritters

Then it started to rain so we picked up The Campaign from a Redbox and headed home. Any movie with Zach Galifianakis is awesome, in my opinion ;-)

On Sunday, we were laying low until we caught wind of a tornado heading our way. The rain and winds got so strong we had to lock ourselves in the bathroom until is was over with. We were then left without power for several hours. What does one do without power?

We got so bored we headed out to a bar so K could watch the games and we could get some food.

Hello There Weekend!

Oh yeaaa, Friday is finally here! Looking forward to some sunshine and cocktails!

#1. I explored Winter Park Art Festival last weekend. They had some really amazing stuff from artists around the country but I'm not really in the market to buy art work for $500+ right now.

#2: This weekend is supposed to be in the 80s here in Florida so we're headed out to the beach once the rain stays away and the weather man is right.

#3: Made some cheesy chicken enchiladas for dinner this week. Other than the cheese, they're not too bad for your waistline, right?

#4: Guinness is my new favorite dessert drink. I used to hate the taste but it's grown on me. Did you know that Guinness draft has less calories than a Budweiser draft?  I'm serious...Google it!

#5: I found a cute little love note to give to my hubby tonight when I get home.

Is it cocktail hour yet?

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!!

Where's the Bikini Weather at?

This weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm here in Florida so in honor of two of my favorite things, I'm dedicating this Throwback Thursday to sunshine and bikinis - Summer 2007 edition!

This is how we spent our days back when I was a single gal ;-)

Relaxing on the lake (when I was a brunette for a short period of time).

My old roommate Slip 'n Sliding in our backyard

Catching some rays by the pool

Going to concerts and music festivals.

And just being silly...

 Great memories!

Cheers to another Throwback Thursday!

Disney Pt 1: Epcot & Animal Kingdom

Joining Helene today for another week of Travel Tuesdays.

Thought I'd share some of our Disney adventures from my two favorite parks - Epcot and Animal Kingdom - from a few summers ago. We happened to go during Epcot's Flower & Garden festival so that explains all the fancy character scrubs!

The pub in England - Epcot, Orlando FL.

At Animal Kingdom we went on the Everest roller coaster which is one of the better Disney rides.

And went on the African Safari along with a few other small rides.

I love Disney but the lines and wait times are insane so we end up skipping out some of the rides.  Ah well, fun times!

That's all for this week's travel Tuesday!!

Weekend St. Patty's Festivities

Morning everyone!

Well my headache from Saturday's St Patty's festivities is still going strong over 24 hours later. But I think it was worth it. All 15 Irish car bombs and all.

On Friday night, we went out to an engagement party for a friend. This was the huge suprise that we all knew about but couldn't share until her boyfriend proposed on Friday evening. I also happen to work with this lovely lady so keeping such a big secret from her was extreme torture.

On Saturday I baked some chocolate chunk cookies and picked up different Irish beers to bring to a St Patrick's party that night.

Before the party, K and I went out for dinner at a new restaurant that opened up in our neighborhood. The Lobster Mac n Cheese was delicious and, of course, I had to get a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives!

We then changed in our green gear and joined the rest of our friends to celebrate St Patrick's day.

We had a blast catching up with friends.

And completely overdid it with the Irish Car Bombs. Hence looming hangover ;-P

Super fun weekend!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Cheers to the Weekend!

Hi Everyone!
Looking forward to seeing how you all plan to celebrate St Patrick's day this weekend.

We'll be celebrating on Saturday night with some friends, green beer and Irish Car Bombs. I've been trying to think of a festive dish I can make to bring to the party. I am not exactly the artsy type that can pull off making fancy desserts that you see on Pinterest but this recipe for Guinness Brownie Bites with Bailey's Cream Cheese Frosting looks awesome.

K and I also plan to get started on our latest home improvement project - a DIY kitchen backsplash.
I'm hoping it looks something like this.

And finally, tonight we are going to a surprise dinner to celebrate a top secret occasion. I'll be able to share more details after the secret has been disclosed tonight.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

Throwback Thursdays: St Patty's Style

I didn't have time to scan some old pics so in honor of St Patty's day this weekend, I was able to find some pics of previous St Patty's celebrations (thanks to modern technology aka Facebook).

Last year we went to a house party with some friends and celebrated with several Irish Car Bomb shots.
(We all look possessed in this picture thanks to the iPhone camera.)

Previous years we've gone bar hopping downtown and I'm pretty sure we had several Irish Car Bombs.

And back in college we went to the local Irish pub and drank green beer and/or the cheapest drinks we could get our hands on.

I actually still have the above green shirt which says "Shake Your Shamrock". I think I'll wear it again this weekend to keep the tradition going for St Patty's Day ;-)
