January Finale Weekend Recap

I'm never a huge fan of Mondays but it is fun recapping about the weekend.

On Friday night we went to dinner at Bonefish Grill to use the $50 gift certificate I won. We ordered our favorite Bang Bang Shrimp which is to die for!

Ater dinner we decided to have a relaxing night at home so we just watched movies at home and sipped on some red wine

On Saturday I did some errands and then got a Sunless Spray Tan. I liked the Tanning salon on Facebook so they gave me 1 week of tanning and 1 spray tan for free. Sweet deal and I look soo much better with a tan!

I then picked up lunch for K and I at Panera and got a yummy pastry for free with my Membership card.

Saturday night we went out to a friend's going-away party. We started the night at a nice restaurant on the golf course . I ordered a Caprese Salad with Blacked Chicken which was delicious.

I also ordered a strawberry mojito which are sooo good. I need to find a good recipe and start making these at home.

We had a great time catching up that night with friends over cocktails.

On Sunday we slept in and then I went out to get a much needed Mani & Pedi.

On Sunday night K and I whipped up a dinner feast, which I blogged about last night. We had Kielbasa for an appetizer and for dinner we cooked Chicken Kabobs on the grill and baked corn pie and corn bread muffins.

Hope you have a great week! Linking up with Sami and Leeann for the Weekend Update Blog Hop.

Cheers!

Sunday Baking & Grillin' Recipes

Hi everyone! Hope you had a fabulous weekend :-)
I had a relaxing Sunday with a lot of baking and grilling tonight. We hardly ate all day so we cooked up a feast for dinner.

We made chicken kabobs on the grill - marinated chicken breasts, portobello mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, onions and green peppers.

I also baked a Trinidad Corn Pie (recipe below). It's delicious & pretty healthy (minus the cheese on top, which is optional).
And finally, Corn bread muffins (thanks to Betty Crocker) ;-)

Dinner is served!

We also put a Kielbasa sausage on the grill as an appetizer.

Clearly our eyes were bigger than our stomach so lots of leftovers for this week!

Isn't it crazy that it's almost February?? Hope your 2013 is going great so far!

Trinidad Corn Pie recipe:
1 can whole kernel corn
1 can cream-style corn
1 cup evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 small onion
Chopped hot peppers (if you want some extra spice)
salt & pepper
 Cheese for topping (optional)
----
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Mix all ingredients
Pour into a greased baking dish
Bake for 45 mins to 1 hour (until golden brown)

Enjoy!

High Five For Friday

Yay for another Friday!

As always, I'm looking forward to sleeping in this weekend. We have a going-away party to go to on Saturday but overall it should be a pretty relaxing weekend, which is totally fine with me!

Linking up with Lauren for High Five For Friday.

#1: Bought a pink girly hand mixer for a friend's bridal shower this month.
#2: Green tea with Jasmine has been my best friend since I think I'm coming down with the flu :-(
#3: It's Girl Scout Cookie time! Have you placed your order? My favorite are the Thin Mints and Caramel deLites.
#4: Healthy dinners at home are the best. Tilapia is so easy & fast to cook it's ridiculous!
#5: Loving my sparkly blue flats from Candies.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Facts of Martini-Loving Me

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to join in on Whitney's Facts of Me Blog Hop.

 Sooo let's see....

#1: Dirty Martinis with blue-cheese stuff olives are my favorite. I'm also a big wine lover too (red or white).

#2: I'm infatuated with Asian food (Thai, Sushi, Japanese, Vietnamese etc. etc..). Many of the local Asian restaurants know me by name & know I'll be ordering the "usual".

#3: K and I met at a bar. So, yea it does happen. Mutual friends did introduce us though.

#4: My life is planned by writing lists. I have to write down my to-dos for the week or nothing will get done. Or, I mean, I just won't remember to do sh*t.

#5: My late grandmother was the love of my life. As you can see, she had a great sense of humor :-)

#7: I was in a British movie when I was 9 called The Humming-Bird Tree.

#8: I've never broken a bone or gotten stitches..and hopefully that stays that way..

#9: Beer & wings at a sports bar wins my heart any day over getting all dolled up to go to a fancy club.

#10: I have two closets full of heels that I never wear. I always end up choosing to wear flip flops or comfy shoes. I keep buying these sexy looking things that "will look great with that dress" but they end up just building dust. It's a serious problem :-/

#11: I love anything to do with Buddhism. It's not my religion but I'm just drawn to many of the beliefs & quotes. I also have several Buddha statues decorated throughout my house.
 Thanks for reading!

January Pub Crawl

Happy Monday!

I'm not too impressed that we had to work today and mostly everyone else I know got the day off. But I'll survive another Monday.

The weekend was fun though. On Friday evening my company hosted a cocktail event at the Science Center. We took pics in the EA Sports booth and had fun hanging out with work friends

We also walked through the Star Wars exhibit which is a topic I'm clueless about. I've never seen any of the movies nor got into the whole thing but it was pretty cool.

On Saturday morning I didn't make it to yoga. I'm not good about waking up early on my days off. So we slept in a bit and then K and I went to the gym and worked out together.

Saturday evening K's friends stopped by to hang out and came bearing gifts. Chocolate Whipped Vodka mixed with soda water was delicious!

The guys ended up wanting to out that night and I decided to stay home and enjoy some "me" time. I ordered Chinese food and watched the Casey Anthony Movie on Lifetime. Lol

On Sunday morning K and I cooked brunch at home and then we met up with friends downtown to go on a Pub Crawl.

It was a super fun Sunday but, of course, I didn't want to part ways with my bed this morning, especially since K had the day off. Ah well! Cheers to another week :-)

Happy MLK day everyone!

Friday Favorites & Fun

Happy Friday everyone!
1. Soo I won my first sweepstakes yesterday! A $50 gift card to Bonefish Grill (my fave restaurant!) arrived unexpectedly in the mail. I forgot I even entered the contest!

2. Loving that the weather has dropped about 30 degrees today from yesterday so I can bring out my long sleeves and boots. It's Florida so still not freezing yet.

3. My company is hosting a cocktail hour this evening and taking us to a Star Wars convention. While I've never seen any of the movies and know nothing about the characters, I'm always down for a good cocktail!

4. Looking forward to my Sat morning Yoga session to relax my mind after a long week.

5. Three more weeks until I fly home to Trinidad for Carnival to parade on the streets in a beautiful costume. Also looking forward to spending time with my parents and friends!

Wedding Wednesday: Selling My Stuff

I'm finally getting around to parting ways with some of my wedding stuff including my veil, jewelry and various other items.

I wanted to find out what wedding websites/classifieds everyone used to sell their wedding dress and/or other wedding stuff? Preferably sites that do not charge a fee.

I've also decided to sell my dress which I got cleaned and preserved after our wedding.

I also have lots of other random wedding decor including a "B" Mongrammed cake topper which looked lovely on our cake.

And also a beautiful "I Do" wedding hanger which is a cute idea for photos.

I'm curious to find out if there are any good wedding "marketplaces" online other than resorting to eBay or even Craigslist. Suggestions are welcome!
