Sisterhood of the World Bloggers

One of my favorite bloggers Pinky from Pink Persistence tagged me in her Sisterhood of the World Bloggers post and I wanted to share my answers to her questions. Some of this stuff I probably haven't talked about on my blog so it'll also help some of you get to know me better.

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2008 for work but didn't get into lifestyle blogging until Kate and I became friends. She pretty much convinced me to give it a try in 2012 when I started Martinis & Bikinis and here I am today still trucking blogging along!

2. Who would you want to play in a movie?
I love anything with Drew Barrymore. I can't think of a particular role. Since I'm not a huge TV person, actors and actresses are something I'm not very in tune with.

3. If you could travel anywhere tomorrow where would you go?
My travel list is miles long but I would choose to fly over to Europe so I can hop around and visit as many countries as possible. The Greek Islands being the top of my list. I'd love to take a cruise that takes you to three or four of the islands.

4. What is your favorite/least favorite thing about blogging?
I love blogging mainly because of the friendships you make and the interesting people you get to connect with all around the world. As for my least favorite thing, I would say the time-consuming aspect to it especially when you work a full-time job. Sometimes it can be stressful keeping up with everything. I also struggle with how much personal information to share considering anyone can be reading your blog.

5. Where do you turn when you have writer's block?
I usually take a break for a day or two to regroup my thoughts. During that time, I find inspiration from Pinterest, things happening in my life and around me (Facebook sometimes), shopping deals, current events, and going through my photos, conversations with friends etc.

6. What are your favorite kind of posts to read?
I like a variety of posts just like I write about a variety of things  ~ anything related to travel, fashion, recipes, personal life events, tutorials and funny stories are probably the top of my list.

7. Is your hair your natural color?
Not any more. I was blonde all through childhood but my hair slowly starting getting darker during my teens to an ashy gross blonde/brown color so I've been getting highlights done for a while now. I've also used box dyes to lighten my hair in the past. I did try going brunette years ago but I don't think it suits me at all!

8. What is your favorite decade and why?
I've never really contemplated this but I'm digging this decade. I'm a lover of technology so it would only be appropriate. Although the bright colors, high-top shoes, big hairstyles, and puff paint in the 90s were fun too.

9. Have you dealt with blog drama (mean comments, dramatic people, fake friends)? If so, how did you deal?
Luckily I have not. I try to keep personal details about my life unspoken on my blog. I feel that's the stuff that leaves you most open to scrutiny but I could be wrong. I am an honest and transparent person in real life but I don't think the world needs to know the nitty-gritty of my life. Trolls will be trolls though.

10. If you could have any job in the world what would you do?
I would love to work with Children Social Services but I'm sure that would have it's challenges. A Crime Scene Investigator is also very intriguing to me but I'm not sure I could stomach it.

I don't particularly like tagging others in posts so whoever wants to play along with Sisterhood of the World Bloggers, you can use the questions above and share your answers. I'd love to read about you so feel free to send me the link to your post!

  1. YAY, so glad you wanted to play! Drew would do a fabulous job playing you, in my opinion! And I'd love to go on a Grecian cruise, that sounds and looks beautiful.

Trolls will be trolls, love it, lady!!! Thanks for playing along!

  2. I love blogging for the same reason that you do--the friendships. There are definitely some amazing women out there. Luckily there are more of those than the trolls :)
Greece is totally at the top of my list as well (once the craziness dies down a bit), and I loved learning more about what your dream jobs would be! :)

  4. OMG I totally want to go on an extended vacation to Europe. Now if only I was rich enough to quit my job and travel everywhere over there all at once lol! And yes to your least favorite thing about blogging. It's tough blogging and having a full time job (and balancing your social life) and I always try to not share many personal details on my blog due to horror stories I've heard but sometimes it's hard!

  7. I totally agree with how much time blogging consumes. It's hard to find a good balance. I also try to limit personal information I put on blog. It is also hard to find the right balance with that. There are way too many crazies out there.

  11. I started blogging in 2012 too! I love Drew Barrymore she seems so fun and down to earth. I don't know very many people that have never colored their hair at this point in life. I would totally love to explore over in Europe! Greece looks absolutely amazing!

  15. I totally agree with blogging being so overwhelming and time consuming sometimes, but it's so worth it for the great blogger friends! A Greek Isles cruise is a huge dream of mine! Last time we were in Europe, we were supposed to go to Greece, but riots had broken out in Athens so we decided to do two weeks in Italy instead.

  18. oh i would so so love to go to the greek islands, it would be amazing.
i used to be blonde as well and it got darker from like 16 onwards. i kept colouring it though because i tried to go brunette and it was horrible! it took me AGES (and a good stylist!) to finally find the brown colour i was comfortable with, and now i look at photos of me as a blonde and i'm like, who is that?!
totally agree about sharing personal info on the blog. there are some things i will never share, and i read some blogs and wonder why they share so much. not in a bad way, just in a sharing your full name / address / city etc kind of way lol
