Travel Tuesdays: Negril, Jamaica

I'm excited to join Helene's brand new Travel Tuesday Linkup today. If there's one thing I love, it's  traveling although I feel like I've barely but a dent in the map but I'm working on it. If only we were all rich and didn't need to work to make a living?

Today I decided to talk about my trip to Negril in Jamaica. Maybe because I've been missing sunshine and warmth for the past few day or maybe simply because it was absolutely beautiful.

My cousin decided to have a destination wedding at the RIU Negril resort last summer so it was the perfect excuse for our family to reunite from different parts of the world on a sunny all-inclusive resort in Jamaica.

This was the view we woke up to every morning.

Jamaican Jerk Cusine.

We were pretty excited about staying at an all-inclusive resort but we didn't expect them to take it as far as having liquor dispensers in the hotel rooms (which the housekeepers refilled daily).

Negril is known for it's 7 mile beach so we had two tour guides take us on a boat cruise around the Negril coast.

We stopped at Jimmy Buffet's Margartiville to get a drink and check it out. While returning back to the boat, a local offered us 'Shrooms. Yeah that really happened....and no we did not accept. (That was the only negative experience on this trip)

Our last stop was at Rick's Cafe which is a must-see for anyone visiting Jamaica. They have food, drinks, live music and cliff-diving. We didn't jump off the cliff but instead watched the locals do it.

Our tour guide did some flips off of the cliff for us to get on camera.

We had a fantastic time in Jamaica and cannot wait to go back again soon! I can't wait to read about everyone else's travels.

Trinidad Trip Highlights

Well I'm finally getting around to do a quick recap on my recent trip down south, wayy down in the southern Caribbean. I flew there on Caribbean Airlines on Friday which went surprisingly well. No lost luggage. No delays. No turbulence.

They also give you a free meal and headphones to watch the in-flight movie so they are def one of my preferred airlines to fly to the Caribbean.

On Saturday I went to a party off the coast of Trinidad where 20+ boats anchored in Turtle Bay and everyone had fun hopping from boat to boat.

On Saturday night I went out for a friend's bachelorette party which was masquerade-themed.

I went out for Chinese lunch with my family on Sunday and had a relaxing day to prepare for the big celebration on Monday & Tuesday...and the whole purpose of my trip - Carnival!

There's no words to describe how much fun and beautiful this celebration is with all the colorful costumes, local Soca music and plenty of dancing and drinks.

Two days of partying for Carnival def kicks the life out of you but my vacation wasn't over yet. On Wednesday night, I went out with all the girls for sushi and wine.

Finally on Thursday I went to relax on the beach before heading back to Florida on Friday morning.

I can't wait to go back next year! Fingers crossed xx

Vacation Trip Countdown

3 more days until my trip home to Trinidad!

I'm looking forward to Boat parties on the ocean in 90 degree weather.

I'm excited about wine nights with my girl friends.

I 'm well overdue for all the different local food that I miss so much.
The Trinidad Bake and Shark was rated the best fish sandwich in the world by Andrew Zimmerman and I have to agree. ;-)

And of course I'm looking forward to the main purpose of the trip - Carnival!!

High Five for Friday :-)

Sooo happy the weekend is almost here and I can sleep in for the next two days. Waking up early has never been my forte :-P

Linking up with Lauren for H54F.

1. Excited for date night tonight at Bonefish Grill (my fave). The Bang Bang shrimp is the bomb!

2. Getting my front windows tinted for FREE tomorrow on my new car. I'm pretty proud of my negotiating skillz. lol

3. Love the necklace with my birthstone that I got for Christmas from my MIL.

4. K and I are thinking of driving out to the beach this weekend. It's hot...in Florida...in January!! Sooo why not? If we don't make it out there, you can catch me poolside with a frozen drink.

5. Victoria Secret's Semi-Annual Sale is going on right now and they've got some sweet deals on swimsuits, bras etc... Tempting!

Farewell 2012: Highlights & Adventures

2012 has been a wonderful year filled with some very memorable and life-changing experiences.

We spent last New Years in Tobago with my friends from back home. We threw a NYE party at the house we rented and had a blast dancing and mixing drinks.

Every morning we awoke to 90 degree weather in Tobago and spent our days relaxing on the beach until the sun went down.

In February we went to Disney's Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

In May I was the maid of honor for one of my best friend's wedding.

June was a huge month for us as we got married! We had an outdoor wedding at Paradise Cove in Orlando. We had friends and family travel in from all over the world so it was an incredibly special day & one I'll never forget.

We did a mini honeymoon in St Pete Beach, FL since we had a big trip to Jamaica planned for the following month for my cousin's wedding.

St Pete Beach is a really cute beach town on the west coast. Unfortunately it rained most of the weekend so we stayed in our hotel room and caught up much needed sleep and relaxation after a busy wedding week entertaining guests.

In July we traveled to Negril, Jamaica for my cousin's destination wedding and our "official" honeymoon.

We stayed at an awesome all-inclusive resort on Negril beach and spent some quality time with my whole family.

We also took a charter boat out on the coast of Negril's 7 mile beach and visited the world famous Rick's cafe where the locals do cliff diving.

In October we took a 3-day cruise from to the Bahamas. We toured Nassau and got to eat some local food ~ conch fritters and conch salad.

The cruise also took us to Coco Cay which is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean.

In December we visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for my work holiday party.

And finally, yesterday I made a big purchase to start off 2013 right ;-)

I'm looking forward to what 2013 has in store for me. 13 is my lucky number!!
