January Happenings

February crept on us quickly but I'm not complaining. Since I can't seem to blog as consistently as I'd like, I wanted to round up all things that happened in January.

Celebrations
We hosted a NYE party so technically that was the beginning of January. It was a blast ringing in 2019 with champagne, fireworks, and friends.

Health
After returning home from our Christmas in Vegas trip, I felt exhausted and slightly sick from the weather change. I only had a couple days to pull together all the decor, food, photo-booth. games etc for our NYE party but I think everyone had fun. After that, I was full on sick with a high fever which then turned into a nasty cold that just lingered in my system for weeks, I felt pretty horrible health-wise for most of January.

Obstacles in The Road
I traded in my lease because I was way over mileage and bought a new car. On my commute to work only 3 days later a pebble/rock/unknown object hit and cracked my windshield on the highway. Nothing makes me more furious. Florida highways are the worst with all the construction and I had another small object hit my windshield this week with a minor ding.

Brunching
Kate and JQ organized a very late Birthday Brunch for me at Canvas Restaurant. The weather was nice that day so we enjoyed sipping mimosas outside on the patio after eating.

Travel Planning
I'm going to Europe this Summer!!
This is the most exciting thing I have planned for 2019 since I've never been across the pond. The flights there are booked but still lots of logistics need to be worked out. The Bestie and my God-daughter recently migrated to England so I know I'll get to spend some time with them.

Capsule Wardrobe
I'd never heard the term "capsule wardrobe" before (sure I've read ways to reuse clothing to pack lightly on a trip). After chatting with the Bestie about our Europe travels, she convinced me to research capsule wardrobes since she knows I'm an over-packer and that will do me no good bouncing around Europe.

Fashion Purchases
I haven't purchased any new clothes this year other than giving Stitch Fix a chance to see what they send me as style experts. I haven't loved everything the stylist has sent. Some things I did love but were too small/big or not the price I was willing to pay. These are the pieces I have kept so far (since my last Stitch Fix review).

Books
January (and December) were full of remembrance documentaries with some fiction sprinkled-in between. These are just a few from January.

Then She Was Gone
A Royal Duty

  Currently Reading
Watching
Married at First Sight, among other things, but my friend AJ is on this season so K and I have definitely been following along to see how this plays out.

Blog Milestones
Martinis & Bikinis hit 1000 followers earlier this month and still growing. A big milestone for a small blog but still something worth noting.

Weekend Brewery Fun
Last but not least we spent a fun Saturday taking Lola out Brewery Hopping in Sanford while the weather is cool enough for her to enjoy and met up with Kate.

That rounds up January. Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Loved Then She Was Gone.

Traveling with a capsule wardrobe is the shit. Saves so much time and energy both on the front and and while dressing every day. I did it for South Africa as well as Ireland/Scotland and will do it forever now.

  2. So excited for your Europe trip!! Using a capsule wardrobe will help so much. I've tried to be better at packing light since it really does cut down the annoyance of dragging everything along the way lol. Glad you are feeling better too girl!

  4. Congrats on 1000 followers! That stinks about your new car! There is always stuff flying around here on the roads due to construction as well. I could totally get behind the capsule wardrobe for traveling purposes. Every day? Not so much lol.

  5. LOL, I'm a chronic overpacker, too. I'll be interested to see how it goes for you if you do a capsule wardrobe!! I can't believe all you were able to focus on in January. I feel like I blinked and the month was over (though it also feels very long, lol).
