Weekend: Charity Gala & Staycation

Hoping everyone had a great weekend as I did :-)

K and I enjoyed a quick staycation at a local Orlando resort in "tourist town" since we had to be out that way for a work charity event benefiting families dealing with pediatric cancer. It's an event that we've attended for the past three years and one I love since it's for a great cause.

We checked into the hotel on Saturday and explored the resort and pool before heading up to relax a bit before getting dressed for the event.

The night's entertainment consisted of live music, amazing food, good wine, poker, black jack and other table games (using funny money). They also had live auctions for some amazing prizes and later in the night we heard speeches from the families that benefited from the foundation. Overall it was a fantastic and fun night and luckily we only had to take a quick elevator ride to crash into bed!

On Sunday morning we had a complimentary breakfast at the resort with the charity group and then later checked out of the hotel to head home.

Since we were already out on International Drive, we stopped off to check out the new Orlando Eye observation wheel which stands 400 feet tall but we didn't actually go on the ride.

Weekending: Charity, Live Music & Good Friends

Morning loves! Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

On Friday Kerri and I went to a charity event to support sexual assault victims in Central Florida. But first, we stopped for a cold one at The Brass Tap to cap off the busy work week and let the rainstorm pass.

We then headed over to the Mennello Museum of American Art for a night of live music, silent auctions, good wine, and some amazing live art.

This artist was amazing and I wish I could remember his name but he does an awesome performance while painting to the music of the artist he creates.

On Saturday a group of us headed to Epcot to celebrate a friend's 34th birthday and to see Jon Secada live in concert.

The Flower and Garden Festival was also going on so there were lots of pretty Disney character displays.

And Jon Secada rocked the house!

The day was capped off with some grub in Mexico and viewing of some of the pretty flower displays as well as a walk through of the butterfly garden.

What a fun weekend with great friends! Now back to the grind...

Happy Monday!

Weekend of Charity Events & Giving Back

I had a great weekend and thankfully got to catch up on some sleep and relaxation although our nights were booked solid.

On Friday night we went out to a charity event for a 5 year old girl who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. K used to work with Emma's mom, who has had to give up her career to care for this vibrant little girl. The fundraiser was at an indoor golfing place and tons of families with kids showed up to support her cause.

There were lots of activities for the kids such as magicians and Disney characters along with indoor golf (of course) and several silent auctions.

I won a Pamper Package gift certificate from the silent auction which includes a wash, blow-dry, cut and style, manicure and pedicure, facial and makeup. Sounds like a full day of pampering for me which I'm excited to use!

After the fundraiser, we went for a late dinner at Seasons 52 Grill which was SO good and a great atmosphere for date night. It was our first time trying out this restaurant and we were impressed with the service and food.

On Saturday night, we went to another charity event for the Special Olympics. We've been going to this event for the past 4 years and it's always a good time for a great cause. The night consisted of black jack, silent auctions, live music, food tasting from some of the best local restaurants, mingling and drinks.

After the charity event, we went to a new speakeasy lounge in town with some coworkers. Several martinis and laughs were enjoyed ;-)

Such a fun weekend but so happy I also got to catch up on some sleep and get some stuff around the house.

Hope yours was fun and relaxing!

Weekend Staycation & Charity Gala

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I got to catch up on a little R&R, but just a little...

Friday night was pretty relaxing, thankfully! We had dinner and drinks with some friends to catch up with them and then spent the rest of the night watching movies at home. Life recently has been so busy every weekend, I haven't had a Friday night on the couch in a long time.

On Saturday night, K and I went to a charity gala to support children and families in Central Florida battling childhood cancer. The event was sponsored by my company so they put us up in a hotel by Disney for the night. It was a nice little Staycation!

The gala had live music, poker & other table games, dinner & drinks and several different auctions. We didn't do so well at the table games but it was a nice night out for a good cause. Some of the families shared their stories and expressed how the proceeds really help them especially since parents often have to give up their jobs to care for their children full-time. I was glad to be a part of it!

On Sunday we had breakfast at the hotel and then headed home. I made a pit-stop at the VS semi-annual sale and scored some $3.99 undies. Always good to restock, right?

The rest of Sunday was spent cleaning, grilling (recipe to come tomorrow), and watching the World Cup.

How was your weekend?
