Travel Tuesdays: Trinidad W.I.

You may already know that I grew up in Trinidad and moved to Florida when I was 18 yo so it holds a special place in my heart. Although Trinidad & Tobago is one country, it is two separate islands each with their own beauty.

I captured some of my favorite things on my most recent trip to Trinidad.

Maracas Bay Beach

 Local Snacks

Boat Parties off the NW coast of Trinidad.

Known locally as "Down the Islands"

 "Shark n Bake"
(aka the best fish sandwich in the world... according to me & Andrew Zimmern).

Only a quick flight over to Tobago for more beautiful beaches.

I'm looking forward to our upcoming trip to T&T to spend NYE with friends and family in the sunny islands that stay 90 degrees all year long.

Sunshine State Weekend Fun

The weather has finally warmed up so we headed out to the beach for the weekend and to also visit family and friends out there. On Friday night we went out to celebrate my MIL's birthday at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion.

On Saturday morning we headed out to the beach with some friends. It was a gorgeous day!

We also randomly saw the famous Naked Cowboy from NYC with his new sidekick. (We made sure he was the real deal by going online and comparing his tattoos).

After the beach we headed to the beach bars to get some food and frozen drinks with a bunch of friends.

I finally got to have fresh Oysters for the year and we decided to also try Oyster shots which were interesting.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

H54F: Hello Warm(er) Weather!

Happy Friday everyone!
I'm excited that the weather in Florida is finally warm enough to go to the beach. So we're doing exactly that this weekend ;-)

Joining Lauren today for High Five For Friday.

1. Last weekend I went to VS to buy a new swimsuit and I left with this very bright but FREE umbrella.

2. Drinking on a budget. Franzia box wine is not too shabby for $11.99. It has 3 liters of wine so it's equivalent to about 4 small bottles of wine. Sweet deal!

3. Carrot cake from Publix is to die for. I usually try to avoid the bakery section but I picked this up for our Easter dinner last weekend and we had lots leftover.

4. Our money tree is growing out of control...but where's the money at? Seriously. Hoping this is a sign from the Gods.

5. Got a new shipment of Body Shop's Tea Tree collection this week. I'm really liking how this works for my skin and helps with blemishes. I use the Tea Tree Face Wash, Clearing Toner, Pore Minizer and Blemish Gel.

Since I had a $10 off coupon I also added in a Vitamin C Microdermabrasion moisturizer which I am yet to use. I'll def do a review on this product.

I hope you all have a fabulous and fun weekend!

Throwback Thursdays: The Goldilocks Years

I don't have access to many baby pictures of myself since my parents live far away but I ran across this old picture of me cutting the cake at my 2nd (maybe 3rd?) birthday. A true December baby cake, I see.

I also can't help but notice my perfect little gold wringlets. Must have been nice to have bleach blonde hair and perfect curls without paying big bucks to a hairdresser?!  Such is not the case any more so salon prices will be the death of me. I know, #Firstworldproblems.

One more day til the weekend!

Travel Tuesdays: Cruising to Alaska

A few years ago we went on a 7-night cruise to Alaska on Royal Caribbean. This was a family trip organized by my grandmother so all of the cousins got to spend time together. The cruise left from Vancouver, British Columbia so we arrived a day early to do some site-seeing in B.C.

Alaska was very beautiful and serene. We stopped in 3 different ports in Alaska - Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan.

We had a great time on the ship, however I prefer tropical weather for a cruise so it was a little different from the usual sunny vacation. The cousins of course found ourselves drinking at the bar every night.

Easter Weekend Fun

Hope everyone had a great weekend! It's never long enough for me!!

#1: Ordered a Blueberry Mojito on Friday night at dinner and it was delicious.
#2: Picked up the pretty plant to decorate our house for Easter.
#3: We stopped by World of Beer on Saturday night to try out some different beers.
#4: Easter Sunday candy and dessert table.

We cooked up a storm on Sunday and invited a few friends over to join us for Easter dinner.

We finally got to use our turkey fryer that we got for our wedding.

Easter Menu: Ham, Fried Turkey, Corn Pie, Mashed Potato Casserole & Stuffing.

Everything turned out great and we enjoyed catching up with friends!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy Easter Weekend!

Happy Good Friday everyone! I'm so thankful that I got today off of work so I can start preparing for our Easter dinner on Sunday. Fingers crossed I don't burn the ham!

1. I recently started using Body Shop's Tea Tree line to help with blemishes and add more radiance and I'm really liking these products so far.

2. Love our new local spot to grab some drinks on the weekend or for happy hour.

3. Made chicken fajitas for dinner this week. Pretty easy and not too bad for the waistline.

4. White wine spritzers with frozen berries are so delish. I shall be making some for our Easter dinner on Sunday. Easy to make: wine, soda water and fruit of your choice.

5. I have resurrected my childhood love for mint chocolate chip ice cream. I'm not sure if this is a good thing but enjoying it while it lasts ;-)

Wedding Wednesday - Recapping The Details

I found out that my wedding was featured on the FLWeddingBlog.com yesterday!! They published some of my favorite images taken from our photographer.

Our photographer also did a nice blog post about our wedding several months ago, which you can read here.

I thought I would recap all the details of our wedding which took me over a year to plan out, so here's our wedding in a nutshell:

Theme: Tropical & Elegant

Ceremony Venue: Lakeside wedding

Colors: Champagne & Eggplant

Ceremony Music: Caribbean Steel Pan

Reception Music: Variety - Band & DJ

Food: Buffet Caribbean/Hawaiian

My favorite detail was how we decorated our sweetheart table (thanks Pinterest!)

Happy Hump Day!

Travel Tuesdays - Biloxi, MS

My old roommate and I took a roadtrip up to Biloxi back in 2007 since her grandparents are casino regulars and got us a free hotel room for the weekend. As you probably know Biloxi was flattened by hurricane Katrina in 2005 so the city itself was quite bare except for several large casinos. We stayed at the Isle of Capri Hotel & Casino.

Neither of us are big gamblers but we entertained ourselves on the cheap slot machines so we could at least get free drinks.

We also visited the Hardrock Casino and the Beau Rivage. Not much else to do in Biloxi.

We drove around the city and it was sad seeing all the houses and buildings that were destroyed by Katrina. Other than that we had a great time while we were there.
