Caribbean Wedding Bells: Trinidad Trip Recap

I'm back from my quick trip to Trinidad for my dear friend's wedding which I was the maid of honor in. It was a busy, busy trip but I got to accomplish everything that I hoped to do and also spent some time with family and my girl friends from childhood.

On Friday, myself and the other MOH hosted a tea party for the bride, her mom and the bridesmaids so we got to spend some time together and catch up before the big day.

We did a quick and casual rehearsal afterwards with the guys before heading to Hakka for some family style Asian food.

On Saturday, we woke up bright an early to start the hair and makeup process for the wedding that afternoon. We had some finger food and champagne while getting dressed.

We then headed to the venue to get the professional photos taken and for the bride and groom to do their first look.

The venue was an outdoor setting up high on a mountain with some breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The rain did interfere a bit with our photos but the sun eventually came out just in time for the bride to walk down the isle.

The wedding was SO much fun filled with tons of love and happy tears! We enjoyed the views and danced the night away to local music.

On Sunday, I coordinated a lunch so I could see my close girl friends before flying out. We continued on for some patio drinks at the Hyatt where lots of shit-talking and hysterical laughing ensued.

Sunday night was family time. We ordered some Chinese takeout and had dinner at my Aunt's house for my last night before heading back to Florida bright and early on Monday morning at 5 am.

It was a nice break away from work and blogging but I can't say it was even slightly relaxing so I'm looking forward to getting back into my usual routine and catching up on some sleep. The funny thing is I have to return in exactly a month for another girl friend's wedding which I'm a bridesmaid for but K will be joining me and we're making a vacation out of that trip!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Hi friends! I'll be missing out on the action in the blog world until Monday as I'm heading home to Trinidad (southern Caribbean) for my best friend's wedding.

I'll be staying with my parents and enjoying the sunshine, warmth and amazing food that I've missed so much. Most importantly though, I'll get to spend some time with my friends & family and stand by my best friend's side to witness her marriage.

For those that don't know, I was born and raised in Trinidad and I moved to Florida when I was 18 to go to University. I've been in Florida for about 13 years so my "home" is divided between the two places but I've always said home is where your mom is and that would be Trinidad!

I did a travel recap of Trinidad a while back if you want to check it out and see how beautiful it is. Not being biased or anything! haha

Catch you next week loves!

It's always sad when your vacation comes to an end but I was happy to be back home on Friday and had the weekend to relax and catch up on my blogs before going back to work today.

K and I traveled to Trinidad & Tobago for a week to visit family & friends for a late Christmas and to ring in 2014 in the sunny Caribbean.  We spent the first 3 days in Trinidad.

Travel Tuesdays: Trinidad W.I.

You may already know that I grew up in Trinidad and moved to Florida when I was 18 yo so it holds a special place in my heart. Although Trinidad & Tobago is one country, it is two separate islands each with their own beauty.

I captured some of my favorite things on my most recent trip to Trinidad.

Maracas Bay Beach

 Local Snacks

Boat Parties off the NW coast of Trinidad.

Known locally as "Down the Islands"

 "Shark n Bake"
(aka the best fish sandwich in the world... according to me & Andrew Zimmern).

Only a quick flight over to Tobago for more beautiful beaches.

Linking up with Helene for Travel Tuesdays.

I'm looking forward to our upcoming trip to T&T to spend NYE with friends and family in the sunny islands that stay 90 degrees all year long.

Trinidad Trip Highlights

Well I'm finally getting around to do a quick recap on my recent trip down south, wayy down in the southern Caribbean. I flew there on Caribbean Airlines on Friday which went surprisingly well. No lost luggage. No delays. No turbulence.

They also give you a free meal and headphones to watch the in-flight movie so they are def one of my preferred airlines to fly to the Caribbean.

On Saturday I went to a party off the coast of Trinidad where 20+ boats anchored in Turtle Bay and everyone had fun hopping from boat to boat.

On Saturday night I went out for a friend's bachelorette party which was masquerade-themed.

I went out for Chinese lunch with my family on Sunday and had a relaxing day to prepare for the big celebration on Monday & Tuesday...and the whole purpose of my trip - Carnival!

There's no words to describe how much fun and beautiful this celebration is with all the colorful costumes, local Soca music and plenty of dancing and drinks.

Two days of partying for Carnival def kicks the life out of you but my vacation wasn't over yet. On Wednesday night, I went out with all the girls for sushi and wine.

Finally on Thursday I went to relax on the beach before heading back to Florida on Friday morning.

I can't wait to go back next year! Fingers crossed xx

Back to Reality!

Hello lovelies!
I'm back to the Sunshine (and slightly chilly) State after a lovely week visiting my home country, Trinidad, in the Caribbean.

I'm excited to get back to blogging this week and will post more about my trip and Trinidad Carnival, which was a BLAST!!

The hubby and I are celebrating Valentine's this weekend since I missed it on Thursday and I'm in need of some R&R before the work week begins so I'll be back with lots to share.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Island Life

Hi everyone!

I'm doing a quick post while I'm on vacation in Trinidad. I arrived on Friday after a 4-hour flight on Caribbean Airlines.

On Saturday, I headed out with some friends to a boat "raft up" party off the coast of Trinidad.

On Saturday night I went to a bachelorette for a friend that I've known since I was about 6 years old so it was great to catch up with all the girls.

Monday and Tuesday are Carnival here in Trinidad (which I've been posting a lot about recently). I have my costume ready for tomorrow and I'm excited to hit the 2-day street parade that we call "The Greatest Show on Earth".

I'm gonna get back to vacationing now but I hope you all had a great weekend! I will have lots more Carnival pics to share in a few days.
