7 Things I Loved About Europe

It's hard to pick just 7 things about such a huge place with so many different, new, and glorious things. These are just a few that come to mind to kick off some Friday Faves.

1: The History
I think this goes without saying but WOW so much history dating back centuries. I know I only learned a small chunk but the history I did learn was extremely fascinating making each new place and city we explored that much more enchanting.

2: Easy and Affordable Transportation
We took trains, planes, buses, subways and everything worked so efficiently. I wish America would offer such easy and affordable transportation especially the high-speed train system which zoomed us over from London to Paris in 2.5 hours.

3: Wine is cheaper than water
Of course this would be a favorite of mine. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how cheap wine was in certain parts of Europe especially Italy. At a beach-side restaurant on the Amalfi Coast we ordered a bottle of white wine which was 8 Euros and came with free snacks. That's $9 US which you would never find at a restaurant in America. From my experience bottles of wine typically start at $20 in restaurants even for a cheap wine.

4: Eco-Friendly Everything
This I didn't know ahead of time but was so fascinated how Eco-friendly the places I visited in Europe were from the cars to residential recycling and home appliances. Even the restaurants seemed to follow a no-waste policy by using non-disposable cups, plates and cutlery, offering no straws, paper napkins or paper towels in the bathrooms etc.

5: The Italian Language
Of all the languages we heard and tried to learn, the Italian language was by far my favorite to listen to, understand, and try to speak. It just flows so nicely and the people were patient with me.

6: The Olives
This is a random one but I have never in my life tasted such amazing and fresh olives. Oh how I wanted to bring back a dozen jars to feast on at home. This picture doesn't do it justice.

7: Free Drinking Water
In some cities, such as Paris and Rome, there are fountains with drinkable water so you can fill up your water bottles as you walk around exploring.

Again helping to reduce waste by providing free water, which is another thing I wish America would adopt. I don't trust drinking our tap water in Florida or anywhere in the US but it's perfectly safe in London, Paris and Rome from my experience.

  9. I totally forgot how they automatically serve snacks with wine/cocktails. America is SO far behind on so many things - quick and affordable transportation and REAL and fresh food is another biggie <3

  10. They are so far ahead of us in regards to sustainability. We should have water fill stations everywhere, and the only to go cups you get are ones you bring yourself.

And the transportation! Even to rural areas. I know we're much bigger but we could do so much better.
