Charming Charleston, SC

Well it only took me a month to get this post together as we traveled to Charleston exactly a month ago in December for a quick birthday getaway.

The only thing we had planned was a guided bus tour that took us to popular historic destinations in Charleston such as the Old City Market, Rainbow Row, and the Battery Sea Wall. We learned a good amount of history while also getting a glimpse of the charming historic homes and churches throughout the city.

Luckily our hotel was in the heart of the city so we didn't need taxis and just walked around exploring the restaurant and bar scene. One of my favorite restaurants was High Cotton where we had Sunday brunch with live Jazz music.

After brunch we took off on foot in search of the famous Pineapple Foundation. One cannot visit Charleston without seeing this cute and unique monument.

And then quick walk over to Rainbow Row to take some photos since the bus tour just drove past this area for us to view but didn't stop for us to get out.

Christmas was a great time to visit because all of the cute historic houses and restaurants were adorned with wreaths and holiday decor. Our favorite pub was The Griffon which is a low-key and casual place to grab an adult beverage although they do serve food too.

Other sightings while browsing through the city on foot.

I think we fit quite a bit into such a short weekend trip and definitely got to taste some of the best food in Charleston including dinner at Magnolia's one night and Henry's another night.

Such a charming city to visit and explore!

  7. It looks like you guys had such a great trip! Magnolias was our favorite meal when we were there last-- though we're hoping to go again in the winter when it's not super hot and humid! lol.
