The Royal Playa del Carmen Resort

When we booked our anniversary trip to Mexico, I had no idea the luxury we were in for. I always use Expedia for package deals on flights and hotels combined with airport transfers. We got a great deal plus earning more Expedia points for future travel.

The Resort
The Royal Playa del Carmen resort just blew me away. I mentioned on Friday in my Mexico highlights post that the resort was more gorgeous than I ever expected. I apologize in advance for this picture heavy post but I want to share all the beautiful details of this pristine resort.

The Room
We didn't have an upgraded room, just a regular junior sweet and the room was much bigger than expected with a full size Jacuzzi and a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival, which were all a sweet surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable and the fully stocked mini bar was a fun addition. I definitely made use of all the water bottles but never touched the liquor bottles, surprisingly!

The Pool
The resort has several different pools. We spent most of our days lounging by the pool and meeting so many couples from around the world. The swim-up bar is always a hit and I loved how crystal clean these pools were compared to other all-inclusives I've stayed at which were a little sketchy.

The Beach
The beach was gorgeous decorated with private cabanas and plenty of different water sports. The ocean was a little rough the weekend we were there so we spent less time on the beach and more time by the pool but it's a really beautiful white sand beach to take a stroll along.

The Restaurants & Bars
The resort has 7 restaurants and 5 bars/lounges. We made sure to try the cuisine at all of the restaurants whether it was for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food was amazing and not one meal went un-enjoyed. The quality and selection of the cuisine is just one of the things I think makes this resort top-class.

Asiana
Oriental Cuisine

Spice
 "Show Cooking" Cuisine

The Coffee House
Amazing cold brews every morning.

El Mediterraneo

Pelicanos
Caribbean Fushion

Rincon Mexicano
Traditional Mexican dishes from different regions of Mexico.

Tequileria & Cigar Bar

Maria Maria
French-Mexican Fusion Cuisine

24/7 Room Service
We started off every morning with some coffee from the Coffee House and then breakfast at one of the restaurants except one morning we opted for breakfast in bed. We ordered room service one other time for a late night meal and the service is quick even at that time of the night.

Hands down the most gorgeous resort we've stayed at! K and I are already thinking of returning next year. We met so many couples that return every year which is a testament in itself about how amazing The Royal Playa del Carmen is.

I definitely recommend this resort for destination weddings and honeymoons. It has everything you would need for a luxurious vacation!

  14. This looks amazing!! I love the architecture of the hotel!! It looks gorgeous! Do you have to reserve the beach cabanas or how does that work?? I could easily hang out at the pool all day though. I love that room included a jacuzzi and wine. That sounds like the perfect vacation, but add in all the extras? Totally a win.
