Happy Friday everyone!
We had another hot yet rainy week here in Central Florida and you know what rain does? Yup, it makes people forget how to drive... which then causes major traffic and just when you're running late, the train decides to go by. The struggle is real but I know it could be worse. Much worse.
Yesterday consisted of sitting in the car outside of Trader Joe's for 20 minutes while it poured and then finally taking a run for it. All for the love of wine and cheese. Both of which I'll be enjoying this weekend.

It looks like the rain is going to continue for the next few days so it should make for a fairly low key and relaxing weekend. OK enough bitching about the rain and getting into some fun favorites for the week.
Cutest Article:
Loving this article about 21 Things Only a Bulldog Parent Would Understand. All very true!
Vacation Planning:
I should actually say vacation lack of planning. Our trip to New Orleans is coming up in a few weeks and I've done nothing. We do have a hotel booked so that's a start. I'm usually a big planner and have a loose itinerary to follow so I really need to get on this. Maybe I can start off with some suggestions from you... restaurants, tours, sites & scenes? I'm all ears here.
The last time (and only time) I went to NOLA was for a bachelorette last year (recap here) and as you can imagine, we really only covered the bars and party areas. I want to cover a lot more ground on this trip and learn the history, go site-seeing, indulge in some good food, and do a couple of tours.
Shopping Finds:
I've actually been on a shopping freeze since we're saving up for said trip but my mom generously gifted me with some new blouses for work. All light and airy tops yet professional looking.
Everyone knows I'm a sucker for anything with bows.
Healthy Recipe:
This Chickpea Avocado & Feta salad looks delish and a perfect salad for the summer.

Cheers to the weekend! May 5 o'clock come sooner than later :-)
Linking up with Amanda over at Meet at the Barre.
Send me some of that wine and cheese. Love the coffee poster - PS we had tons of rain last week and it was brutal.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the weather's been so icky there...traffic is the WORST! It makes me angry. I'd solve that stress with some wine as well ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the funny about running and winning the lottery--so true! :) How nice of your mom to get you some cute tops--moms are the best!
Hope you guys have a good weekend and some nicer weather!!
Hopefully the weather improves--rain always makes me tired and lazy. Lol. So nice of your mom to give you some shirts!

I made that salad for work on the regular for months and then just forgot about it - so thank you for reminding me how good it is!! yay for new work outfits and double yay for your vacation coming up! I'll be taking notes! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteGirl, NOLA is one of the best citites in the USA! I've been four times and love it each time. You need to hit up Cafe Du Monde [go early, it gets packed and is cash only], sight see around Jackson Square and the French Quarter. We did a grave and Ghost tour and had a ton of fun on both. Also, hit up Bourbon street just for fun one night, it's a mess but so much fun to watch. Armaunds is an amazing restaurant near Bourbon street and we love just looking for fun food places on yelp and giving them a try. I'm so jealous of your trip, I want to go back.
ReplyDeleteI freaking love cheese. Wine not so much as I get older, but cheese, yes.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to New Orleans in February and I can't wait!
Sometimes a little rain, paired with wine and cheese, is just what the doctor ordered. Need to try that chickpea recipe...sounds delish. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteEmily, you crack me up! Pretty and funny! Yep you just gotta make the most of it and I am so so sorry my "NO" rain dance did not work! What a sweet mama to buy you some blouses I have sweet and fashionable mama like that too, we're lucky girls! I hope your weekend is full of fun, laughter, relaxation and lots of trip planning to NOLA! :-)

strangers stare if you forget to put pants on hahaha.
ReplyDeletesucks about the weather! people really do forget how to drive in the rain.
i have no advice for NOLA but I hope you come back with a lots of photos and advice so that i can go next year and use all of your advice lol.
Reasons to need coffee: yes, yes, yes, and yes haha! I'm sorry the weather hasn't been the best. Hopefully it'll clear up this weekend, and even if not, at least you have wine and cheese :)
ReplyDeleteI always say the same exact thing about the rain - it totally makes people forget how to drive (and drives me crazy!). And I don't have a bulldog, but I'm a sucker for those dog shaming photos - they crack me up every time!! Hope you have a great weekend, lady!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteNOLA is going to be so much fun. Honestly we didn't have things planned and went with it depending on weather etc. The Magazine street area is really fun and there's an amazing restaurant you should check out Gordon Biersch, great burgers and beer! If you want to shop, the outlets are great too. Definitely beignets at Cafe du Monde and a ghost tour if you can squeeze it in.
ReplyDeleteWe always go to jaco imo's whenever we go to NOLA, it is not healthy at all but soooooooo good!
ReplyDeleteLOVING that bow top so cute! And yay for mom coming through with some goodies during a shopping ban :-D
ReplyDeleteThe last time I went to NOLA was in 2007, so I won't be much help other than the touristy spots I remember hitting up in the French Quarter and along Magazine Street. Just make sure you get beignets and ice coffee at Cafe du Monde this time!
You must have made a run to TJ's on lunch yesterday because I remember that downpour - it was relentless! Definitely worth it for wine and cheese though :-D
Happy Friday gurlie <3
Ahh so jealous of your NOLA trip! I want to go there so bad! And love your new tops for work! Mom did good there! Haha I feel you on the train but usually I'm on it and we get slowed down due to people stopping on the tracks or signals being out. It sucks! Have a great weekend girl!
ReplyDeleteI want cheese!!!!! I love your bow top, it is so cute!!! Light and airy tops are the ticket when it stays summer until November down here haha. I had to laugh at the bacon in the wall and your funnies are so hilarious today. Running is just the worst. I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHa! I love that picture of the bulldog, I actually laughed out loud. Great post.

Hope the weather improves for you! That happened to us in Texas-basically rained nonstop all April and May! I hate how people completely forget how to drive!
ReplyDeleteHaha I absolutely love the wine & coffee funnies. Cheese & wine sound so good right now. I'm so ready for it to be Saturday...
ReplyDeleteDang, your mom has good taste! I will send you my sizes and address to pass along to her. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Trader Joes! Best place to food shop ever :) & that photo of the bully cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteIt never fails that I always get the train coming when I am running late. NOLA will be so much fun, get to planning girly! Love that last funny!
