Packing for Chicago in Fall

So this is what I'm packing and isn't necessarily what you should pack since I have never actually been to Chicago in Fall/Autumn before. However, based on some research and weather.com predictions (and maybe some luck), I should be good with these picks. I pray for sunny days and comfortable nights with as little rain as possible. I figured an umbrella is still handy for both sunny and rainy days, especially as we plan to do a lot of site-seeing outdoors.
I think layering might also be key with cardigans or lighter jackets but I'm not 100% sure what to expect especially for nighttime temperatures/winds considering it's called The Windy City. Any and all advice welcomed especially from Chi locals or those familiar with the weather around this time of year!

I can't wait to see you tomorrow, Chicago and I'll catch you next week friends!

  1. I've never been to Chicago but I have a few friends that live up there and they say it's getting chilly at night. I keep forgetting that it's getting colder every where else! I definitely think layering is your best bet! Love those booties!!!

  2. Can't wait!! I'm glad you posted this, because all I was packing was a jacket and didn't even think about layering. I'm sure we'll be chillier than most there because we're coming from such a hot and muggy climate :-P

  6. I was way unprepared for how hot and humid it was last weekend. I expected it to be much cooler and packed for it. Marla from Luck Fupus is still there and it's going to be 86 today. I think I sweat more last weekend than I did all summer!

  7. It will still be hot in Chicago. I went last labor day weekend and wore shorts and tanks during the day and jeans and shirts/dresses at night.

  10. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago-so i'll tell you the only thing you can rely on is the weather being unreliable! Haha... I hope it's nice out and you enjoy yourself!

  12. It's still warm here in Chicago right now! You could definitely get away with shorts during the day and transition to jeans at night. Enjoy your visit!

  14. I has been super warm in Chicago the past few days, but I think this weekend is supposed to be GORGEOUS with weather in the 70s (which means it will probably feel like 80s). Just make sure you have long sleeves for night just in case, but you shouldn't need to layer much!

  15. I've never been to Chicago but it is on the list! I want to hear how it was. I love scarves but I always forget to wear them and when I do they feel itchy.

It is kinda tough packing when you aren't quite sure what the weather will be like. Sometimes it seems like I am over-packing just to be prepared.

  16. You're totally right, the key is laying. It's suppose to drop down and be somewhat cool these next few days but then again, it's Chicago, they say cool weather and it's hot and humid. Hope you have a great trip!
