Monday Morning Coffee Talk

The weekend started off with a little happy hour at a spot close to home and then dinner at Outback on Friday night.

I had the bacon bourbon salmon which was pretty tasty.

Saturday morning was a lazy one at home before venturing out to stock up on groceries and figured we'd check out the brand new Walmart Supercenter in our area. Adulting 101 at it's finest! Seriously though it was a huge controversy when they started building this Walmart because "it would attract the wrong crowd to our new community" among other things.

Turns out this is probably the fanciest Walmart in the country with portable scanners you can use and the pay via an app on your phone so you don't have to wait in line. There is also a drive-up window to pick up groceries and an organic restaurant called Grown opening this month. I was quite impressed.

For dinner on Saturday night, K made Buffalo Chicken Sliders inspired by one of those Tasty videos you see floating around Facebook. They were amazing!

Here's the video

On Sunday I met up with some friends for lunch. We chose a Trinidadian restaurant I've been wanting to take them to for over a year now. It was a fun little catch up lunch date indulging in some of my favorite West Indian food. No pictures were taken.

In the afternoon our neighbors hosted a Super Bowl party so we made our "famous" Bite Me Dip and went over there to watch the game.

I didn't stay for the whole game because "Sunday school night" but we had some fun hanging out for a bit to cap off the weekend!

Date Weekend

The weather this weekend was cold and dreary. I could have easily curled up on the couch and not moved all weekend but we had some plans lined up for Saturday.

Friday night was a relaxing one. We watched Girl on a Train which had a few parts that were slightly different from the book. The movie didn't get the best ratings but I'm not the biggest critic when it comes to movies so I enjoyed seeing it to compare it to the book.

On Saturday we had tickets to go see Florida Georgia Line in concert so we bundled up and headed downtown a little early. It was already packed when we got there with people tailgating and a whole block party going on outside the Arena.

It was too cold for my liking outside so we went inside for some drinks and early dinner.

Then it was time to head over to the Arena and get comfy in our seats. We were a lot higher up than expected but at least in the first row of the upper level so we had a pretty good view. It would have been better with some binoculars though. lol

On Sunday we had our hearts set on going out for some brunch even though it wasn't exactly patio weather but we settled indoors at one of our favorite brunch spots with a beautiful view of Lake Eola.

It wasn't an intentional date weekend but it turned out to be a great one. Since K travels often, I guess we got some much needed "us" time.

Weekend Happenings

Hello all! I'm sure everyone is trying to get back into the swing of your work and life schedules as the holidays have come and gone. I kept super busy during the holidays so relaxing weekends are much appreciated around here and that's exactly how it turned out.

On Friday night, K and I went for dinner and happy hour at Bar Louie and then spent to rest of the night relaxing at home since I was pretty exhausted.

We watched the movie Snowden which I fell asleep half way through but finished watching the rest on Saturday morning. I found it was very interesting to see everything that happened behind the scenes.

Saturday was cold and gloomy so it was perfect to sleep in a bit before getting productive around the house packing away Christmas decorations, cleaning and reorganizing.

In the evening the neighborhood ladies planned a sushi & wine night out. It was freezing (for Florida's standards) but we bundled up and headed out for our girls night. A few ladies bailed but the four of us had a blast feasting on sushi and chit-chatting the night away.

We walked to another bar to have some martinis and played around with some SnapChat filters that were hilarious.

We then called an Uber to go back to our neighbor's house where the guys were playing poker and hung out there for a bit. That night was the extent of my weekend fun.

Sunday was another chilly day and perfect for relaxing and working on my "home tour" project for the blog. Here's a sneak peek.

I made use of our ham bone from Christmas (which I kept frozen) and put this Slow Cooker Ham & Split Pea Soup in the crockpot to cook for dinner. Perfect for a chilly night.

And that's all the happenings that happened over the weekend!

The Weekend When 2017 Arrived

Happy new year everyone!

I've never taken a true "staycation" before but the past week off of work has been pure bliss with lots of relaxing, shopping and adventures with the sis, and ringing in 2017 with new friends/neighbors on NYE.

FRIDAY

K and I took my sister to Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios. It happened to be the coldest day of the year in Florida so we tried to fit in as much as we could before the sun went down.

We waited 2 hours in line to go on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride but that was definitely a must for my sister to get the full experience. We didn't get to taste butter beer because the lines were crazy. K went on the Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster while Leah and I opted for some browsing through the stores.

We caught the Grinchmas Who-liday Show which was cute but I couldn't keep my eyes open for all of it.

We went on the Adventures of Spider-Man 3D ride and a few others but the lines were over an hour for most of the popular rides including Jurassic Park.

K and I just signed up for annual passes so we have a whole year to cover both of Universal's theme parks. Merry Christmas to us!

SATURDAY

Since my parents were supposed to be in town for NYE, we never made any official plans so we threw a small last minute shindig for our neighbors which was low key but we had tons of fun and I love that I have really cool neighbors!

SUNDAY

We relaxed all morning and cleaned up the house. In the evening we headed to International Drive to go on the Orlando Eye observation wheel and then have dinner at one of our favorite tapas and art restaurants in the area.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango

It was the perfect end to a weekend full of fun and celebrations. Luckily I have today off of work to unwind and get organized/mentally prepared for the work week ahead.

If you happened to miss my NYE holiday card you can check it out here.

Lucky 33 Birthday Brunch

My birthday was on the 13th so K and I celebrated a little early with a trip to Islamorada in the Florida Keys last weekend.

This weekend Kate and my girlfriends organized a birthday brunch on Sunday which, of course is my favorite meal, and was nothing short of amazing from the food, the different flavored mimosas, the bloody mary bar and most importantly the company of all my friends!

Lola also got to join the fun since it was a dog friendly restaurant.

I'd say it was one of the best birthdays yet...... from relaxing in paradise with K in the Florida Keys to celebrating with my favorite girls and guys yesterday for brunch!

So much to be thankful for!
