Anniversary Celebrations & Ladies Night

My weekends are usually for catching up on some sleep but I was awake at the crack of dawn on both Saturday and Sunday for no good reason. I did get some relaxing in between the celebrations.

Date Weekend

The weather this weekend was cold and dreary. I could have easily curled up on the couch and not moved all weekend but we had some plans lined up for Saturday.

Friday night was a relaxing one. We watched Girl on a Train which had a few parts that were slightly different from the book. The movie didn't get the best ratings but I'm not the biggest critic when it comes to movies so I enjoyed seeing it to compare it to the book.

On Saturday we had tickets to go see Florida Georgia Line in concert so we bundled up and headed downtown a little early. It was already packed when we got there with people tailgating and a whole block party going on outside the Arena.

It was too cold for my liking outside so we went inside for some drinks and early dinner.

Then it was time to head over to the Arena and get comfy in our seats. We were a lot higher up than expected but at least in the first row of the upper level so we had a pretty good view. It would have been better with some binoculars though. lol

On Sunday we had our hearts set on going out for some brunch even though it wasn't exactly patio weather but we settled indoors at one of our favorite brunch spots with a beautiful view of Lake Eola.

It wasn't an intentional date weekend but it turned out to be a great one. Since K travels often, I guess we got some much needed "us" time.

Weekend Happenings

Hello all! I'm sure everyone is trying to get back into the swing of your work and life schedules as the holidays have come and gone. I kept super busy during the holidays so relaxing weekends are much appreciated around here and that's exactly how it turned out.

On Friday night, K and I went for dinner and happy hour at Bar Louie and then spent to rest of the night relaxing at home since I was pretty exhausted.

We watched the movie Snowden which I fell asleep half way through but finished watching the rest on Saturday morning. I found it was very interesting to see everything that happened behind the scenes.

Saturday was cold and gloomy so it was perfect to sleep in a bit before getting productive around the house packing away Christmas decorations, cleaning and reorganizing.

In the evening the neighborhood ladies planned a sushi & wine night out. It was freezing (for Florida's standards) but we bundled up and headed out for our girls night. A few ladies bailed but the four of us had a blast feasting on sushi and chit-chatting the night away.

We walked to another bar to have some martinis and played around with some SnapChat filters that were hilarious.

We then called an Uber to go back to our neighbor's house where the guys were playing poker and hung out there for a bit. That night was the extent of my weekend fun.

Sunday was another chilly day and perfect for relaxing and working on my "home tour" project for the blog. Here's a sneak peek.

I made use of our ham bone from Christmas (which I kept frozen) and put this Slow Cooker Ham & Split Pea Soup in the crockpot to cook for dinner. Perfect for a chilly night.

And that's all the happenings that happened over the weekend!

Miami Weekend Getaway

On Friday I got out of work a little early to beat rush hour traffic and head to Miami. Of course we still got stuck in traffic but made it there in 4 hours. K had to work a convention on Saturday and Sunday so I decided to tag along to relax and enjoy some down time. As much as I love my own bed, there's something about comfy hotel beds, where you can lower the AC, close the blackout curtains, and have a good night's sleep.

We stayed in Coral Gables which is just a few miles west of Miami and we could see the Miami skyline from our hotel balcony.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables which is a beautiful hotel with lovely staff and a comfortable bed. Just the way I like it! By the time we checked in it was already 8 pm so we were starving. Thankfully on the four hour drive I had lots of time to read reviews of restaurants in the area. I chose POC American Fusion Buffet & Sushi which did not disappoint! For $25 we got all-you-can-eat sushi, raw bar (crab legs, oysters, etc), carving station, different ceviches, and a variety of salads, soups, and desserts. It was one hell of a feast and just what our starving bodies needed plus I'd say my sushi fix will be satisfied for a few weeks.

On Saturday morning, I had breakfast in bed while catching up on some blogging and clearing through my inboxes. I got dressed and headed out to Miracle Mile to explore the strip, do some shopping, and get a pedicure at Evolution Salon.

After hours of walking around and exploring I went back to the hotel to relax before getting dressed for dinner. We decided to go to Tarpon Bend Raw Bar & Grill which had amazing seafood and live music.

On Sunday morning, I checked out of the hotel and went to Cherry Blow Dry Bar in Coral Gables to get my hair washed and styled. I figured it was a good weekend for some pampering while K was working.

After K got out of work, we hit the road to head back home. Luckily there was no traffic and we made in back in good timing. It was a lovely little weekend getaway.

Friday Faves

Today happens to be a company holiday so K and I decided to take a little road trip to St. Augustine, FL to explore the historic city and get a change of scenery. The one and only time I went to St. Augustine was for a wedding so it was a quick trip. In the little free time that we had, we did manage to explore most of the historic district, the Castillo De San Marcos National Monument and finally had some amazing Spanish/Cuban cuisine at the famous Columbia Restaurant. We'll definitely be returning to Columbia on this trip!

Before I get into some Friday Faves, I have to say that I was so infuriated on Monday to realize that someone left a hefty scratch on my brand new car from a shopping cart at Publix. The car is not even 2 weeks old! I'm still slightly upset but choosing to focus on some brighter & better things linking up with Amanda.

Fave Recipe
I'm a big fan of Chipotle so when I saw this Fiesta Chicken Burrito Bowl recipe I knew I had to try it. I've recreated Chipotle's salads at home many times but haven't tried my hand at a burrito bowel.

Fashion Fave
Rocksbox sent me this Kendra Scott Jamie Bracelet in Platinum Drusy and I decided to purchase it even tough I wasn't really in the market for another bracelet. It's so shimmery and goes so well with my watch so it's been on major repeat this week.

Wedding Favor Ideas
For all the brides-to-be, I recently attended a wedding and received this wedding favor saying they made a donation to the Children's Cancer Center on our behalf. I love this for a unique and thoughtful wedding favor for charitable donations.

Funny Photos
My mom actually sent this article to me but I thought it was too funny not to share! Check out some of these photos showing dogs with no understanding of personal space.

Sushi.
Enough said right? The day job decided they were going to spoil us with some sushi on Tuesday for lunch. Of course I enjoyed all the sushi possible and had a fun time chatting with coworkers over lunch.

Enjoy the weekend and have a fabulous Easter however (and if) you plan to celebrate it!

Weekend of Love

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We stayed local and enjoyed some time out with friends along with some delicious food and drinks.

On Friday after work K and I met up with a good friend for dinner at Yamasan Sushi & Grill which has an amazing deal on sushi and drinks during happy hour. You can't beat $4 sushi rolls and wine so we splurged and picked six different rolls to share.

After dinner we went next door to Brass Tap to try some of their beers and hang out for a bit before calling it a night.

On Saturday, I did some damage at the grocery store and relaxed at home before getting dressed to celebrate Valentine's with K. We started off with some drinks in College Park. I tried some strawberry shortcake beer which was so delish!

We then headed over to Two Chefs Oyster & Seafood restaurant for dinner. It was our first time eating there and we really enjoyed the oysters for an appetizer. For entrees, I had blackened grouper and K had scallops and we shared some brussels sprouts and lobster mashed potatoes. Service was exceptional and we were in and out of there in less than an hour.

On Sunday I caught up on The People vs OJ Simpson and had a relaxing Valentine's day at home with K and Lola. We all made out with some gifts too.

K and I made some shrimp fondue to finish off the weekend of love and spent the rest of the evening planning our upcoming trip to Denver, CO!
