May Days

I love seeing all the new flowers blooming around town. We don't have blue bonnets like Texas but I love these purple flowers, whatever they're called. My garden needs some work in the flower department which I should have done this weekend.

Weekend Adventures

It was an outdoorsy kind of weekend. Perfect for getting some color on my skin and wind in my hair.

TBB Asks: Spring/April Edition

I hope everyone enjoyed Easter and had a good weekend. I'm linking up with The Blended Blog ladies today sharing a fun Spring Q & A.

Spring Weekending

The weekend was glorious. I got to catch up on some R&R and enjoy the beautiful warm weather. It feels like Summer already in Florida during the day but I'm liking the cool Spring nights.

The weekend started off with a little happy hour after work with one of my girl friends. Nothing beats some refreshing Mojitos and some girl time catching up on life and such.

One of K's friends came into town with his pup for the weekend and stayed with us on Friday night. When I got home from my little happy hour, the guys went out to grab dinner and I stayed home puppy sitting Lola and her new friend, Soda. Thankfully they got along great and wore each other out playing for hours.

Saturday morning was perfectly relaxing catching up on some blogging and a few shows on TV. I headed out for my massage appointment which was much needed for this achy back of mine and got a few errands done afterwards.

On Saturday night we watched the movie Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee which was pretty interesting even though it didn't have the best ratings. I'm always intrigued by crazy, real-life stories like this one.

On Sunday I slept in until about 10am. Glorious! I then got dolled up to meet up with another girl friend for lunch but she wasn't feeling well so I convinced K to go out for a quick bite and so he could watch some sports. Baseball is boring as hell so I had fun trying out all the fun SnapChat filters.

We only stayed out for an hour or so and then got into our swimsuits to enjoy some sunshine by the pool. The weather was hot, hot, hot - like 90 degrees - so we didn't last too long out there but still got some good Vitamin D and hopefully some color with SPF 50's approval.

Spring Weekend

It was a relaxing one with great weather. We had all these plans to go out to dinner and a concert on Saturday night but made a last minute decision to stick around home and relax instead, which meant lots of cuddles with Lola.

On Saturday morning, I spotted a baby rabbit in our yard. I was able to snap a photo before it took off faster than a cheetah. I find it funny an "Easter bunny" has made it's way into our neighborhood just in time for Spring. Good thing it camouflages well with the landscaping so Lola hasn't spotted it yet.

We ventured out on Saturday afternoon to do some shopping and groceries followed by a late lunch.

Sunday was spent doing Sunday things. Our neighborhood pool FINALLY opened (it was supposed to be completed by December last year) so we went to check it out and took Lola for a walk.

Some things from last week:
- I did my first wheelchair distribution to a local resident in need who couldn't be discharged from the hospital without a wheelchair. It was heartwarming to see how happy the gentleman was to receive his very own wheelchair.

The company I work for is heavily involved with The Wheelchair Foundation which distributes wheelchairs to people in need all around the world. In fact we have a wheelchair distribution trip planned for Nicaragua later this year to bring a shipment of almost 300 wheelchairs to different villages.

If this is something that interests you, feel free to visit our local chapter called Chair The Love to see photos and videos of past distribution trips and charitable events we host to raise money.

That's my weekend in a wrap!

Spring Casual

When I think of Spring fashion, comfortable florals and colorful outfits come to mind. My closet once used to be very black and white but I've been adding lots of colorful tops and accessories over the past few years. I don't however own many floral pieces probably because I'm very picky with florals as they can't be too "flowery". Does that even make sense? I guess I don't like too much noise in my outfits. This cute yet subtle floral top from Forever 21 has been in my closet for over 7 years and I still love it! It's has a super comfortable elastic waist and is light and airy for Spring and Summer in Florida.

We took these photos while exploring the historic district in St. Augustine over Easter weekend. One of my favorite (and must-have) accessories for traveling is a good size cross body purse that can fit more that just a couple credit cards and a lipstick. My pink Kate Spade cross body purse is the perfect travel companion (this particular one is sold out but they do have similar cross body purses in a variety of colors).

I don't consider myself a fashion blogger and I don't have a professional photographer sidekick so these photos come to you as they are - unedited and imperfect. I love fashion and will share some favorite outfits from time to time.

Has anyone tried mid-rise jeans as yet? They are life-changing!! At least they are a life-changer for me and my particular body type. Express has a good variety of styles and after wearing my first pair for a few weeks (the Dark Wash Mid Rise Supersoft Jean Legging that I'm wearing in these photos), I've gone back and purchased two more styles.

Mac's Flat Out Fabulous matte lipstick is still one of my prettiest lip colors and it was the perfect touch for this spring-inspired outfit.

While we were exploring downtown St. Augustine, we had to make a stop at one of my favorite spots,  Sangria's Wine & Piano Bar to cool down and have a refreshing glass of fruity sangria.

I bought these adorable Purple Flash Mirror Aviators in Las Vegas last year from the Michael Kors store with some winnings from the Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Purple is my favorite color so I couldn't resist but they definitely don't go with just any outfit. Luckily I was able to wear them out that weekend with the outfits I packed.

My latest Kendra Scott addition (purchased from Rocksbox) is this adjustable Jamie Bracelet in Platinum Drusy which I love because it sparkles in the light. Rocksbox just sent me the matching necklace and earrings so temptation is running high to purchase those as well. I mean they're meant to be worn together, right?

Sweet & Savory Spring Salads

I've been looking for new ways to get those healthy greens in and Pinterest is always to the rescue for some inspiration and adventure, so to speak. I recently started pinning different salad recipes since the two that I have on rotation are getting a little old.

Let's look at some delicious salads that are perfect for the warmer days ahead. The titles are clickable if you want to venture over to get the recipe.

PS: I incorrectly announced on Friday that our Wanderlust Wednesday link up was tomorrow. It's not. The link up is actually next week Wednesday (April 13th). Can you say hot mess express over here or what! Sorry if I misguided anyone but I do hope you'll link up your favor wanderlust adventures or dream destinations next week.

Weekend Whereabouts

Hey pretties!
We meet again on this Monday morning (which came too soon) but I'm ready to tackle this week after a fun weekend spent celebrating with friends.

On Friday night we went out to a local sports bar/restaurant for a friend's going away party and to have some dinner and drinks. They had a huge turnout out to send the newly wed couple off for their move to Tampa.

On Saturday morning, I got a bunch of errands done including some shopping and lunch with the hubs before we went to Kate's house for her BBQ/pool party. I made my Cranberry Cream Cheese Pinwheels to add to the spread. Kerri and Pamela also came out so we had fun catching up and playing Cards Against Humanity which is always a riot.

On Sunday I slept in until 10 am before getting up to do some laundry, food prepping and blogging. K and I then took Lola out downtown to Vanbarry's dog-friendly restaurant for lunch with some friends.

Weekend Whereabouts & Spring Cleaning

Hello lovelies!

Sorry for being MIA for a few days. The head cold and allergies hit me hard last week and I was focusing on feeling better and catching up at work after all the traveling I've been doing. This weekend really helped me catch up on some rest and get back into the swing of things.

Friday night was a quiet date night at BoneFish Grill for their famous Bang Bang shrimp which we absolutely love. I veered away from my usual dirty martini to try their blueberry cold snap cocktail which was a disappointment.

After sleeping for almost 11 hours, we had breakfast at home before heading out to do some shopping, errands, and stock up on groceries. K got some new kicks for working out and I replenished my 3-wick candle collection.

We then headed to our favorite hole in the wall oyster shucking bar where we got some ginormous raw oysters from Louisiana. Our oyster fix was a success!

After lunch we took Lola for a walk around the neighborhood and I spent the rest of the day Spring cleaning and purging clothes, shoes, jewelry and toiletries to donate. I capped off the evening with my favorite blueberry beer and some blogging.

Sunday morning consisted of more spring cleaning and decluttering before heading out to Wildside BBQ for some lunch with K and Lola.

It was so amazing having a fairly quiet weekend in and around town. Lots of sleep and snuggles with my loves is just what the doctor ordered!
