Wedding Wednesday - Recapping The Details

I found out that my wedding was featured on the FLWeddingBlog.com yesterday!! They published some of my favorite images taken from our photographer.

Our photographer also did a nice blog post about our wedding several months ago, which you can read here.

I thought I would recap all the details of our wedding which took me over a year to plan out, so here's our wedding in a nutshell:

Theme: Tropical & Elegant

Ceremony Venue: Lakeside wedding

Colors: Champagne & Eggplant

Ceremony Music: Caribbean Steel Pan

Reception Music: Variety - Band & DJ

Food: Buffet Caribbean/Hawaiian

My favorite detail was how we decorated our sweetheart table (thanks Pinterest!)

Joining in today for the Wedding Wednesday Linkup.

Happy Hump Day!

Weekend Festivities

As we approach the end of the year, it seems there's something to celebrate every weekend - weddings, birthdays, housewarmings, and the list goes on. On Friday evening we went to a friend's wedding at Paradise Cove, the same venue where we got married as I talked about in a previous post. The bride looked gorgeous in her dress and we had a great time!

I love the tropical feel of this venue and how serene the lake is. Friday night was a little chilli (at least for us Floridians) so a light sweater was needed.
They had a photo booth at the wedding which we had to make use of ;-)

Saturday night we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and there happened to also have a photo booth there so I had more photo booth fun with my friend Emily.

After our Friday and Saturday night festivities, I'm enjoying a day at home relaxing (somewhat) - also cleaning and baking. I made a spinach & mushroom quiche and also a ham & cheese quiche, which we dug into right away. We now have enough quiche left over to feed a large family, and there's only two of us in this household.

Spinach Quiche recipe (found online at AllRecipes.com but I tweaked it a little bit):

3 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 onion
6 oz mozzarella cheese
6 oz. cheddar cheese
1 small can mushrooms
3/4 package frozen spinach - thawed and drained
2 tbsp butter
3 bunches of green onions
1 deep dish frozen pie crust
salt and pepper

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  2. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Saute garlic and onion in butter until lightly browned, about 7 minutes. Stir in spinach, mushrooms, mozzarella and 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon mixture into pie crust.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Pour into the pastry shell, allowing egg mixture to thoroughly combine with spinach mixture
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Sprinkle top with remaining Cheddar cheese, and bake an additional 35 minutes or until set in center. Allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Our Wedding Recap

Yesterday evening we went to our friends wedding that took place at the same venue we had our wedding at this past June. Paradise Cove is a hidden gem of a location in Orlando and I was so excited to be a guest and not the bride this time! I thought this would be a good time to do a wedding recap and talk about all the awesome memories that were created for K and I on June 16th, 2012.

Our wedding took place on a sunny Saturday evening this past summer at Paradise Cove which is an outdoor venue that sits on a lake and is just beautiful. The premises has a bridal suite, beautiful garden area facing the lake for the ceremony, tiki bar & cocktail area along the water, and open pavilion for the reception. We had friends and family travel to Orlando from Trinidad, Canada, England, and all over the US. Our wedding had a tropical Caribbean theme with Hawaiian food and a Caribbean band to entertain our guests.

My 10 bridesmaids and I got dressed in the bridal suite. The girls all wore matching purple tank tops that I gave them and we got to spent some quality time together getting our hair and makeup done.

K and I did formal pictures before the ceremony with our wedding party and immediate family.

Our ceremony started at 6pm and we had steel pan music during the ceremony. The guys arrived by boat which came as a cool surprise to all of our guests seated facing the lake.

We had K's uncle as our minister for the ceremony which lasted about 30 minutes. We were very lucky to have perfect weather in June because is usually the rainiest month of the year in Florida. God really blessed us that day!

After the ceremony our guests went off to cocktail hour while we did formal pictures together as husband and wife and also with the whole wedding party together and both of our families.

The reception then started and we had a Hawaiian buffet spread for dinner from a local caternig company who also did our bar service. We had out first dance, a champagne toast with speeches, caking cutting and all the traditional and fun wedding activities.

I did a lot of DIY projects for our wedding including designing and printing the menus, programs and seating cards as well as "bride" and "groom" chair signs.  I also got a lot of cute ideas from Pinterest and loved our sweetheart table which was decorated with my bridesmaid bouquets.

Our Caribbean band really got the party started and everyone had a lot of fun dancing. Many of our guests also enjoyed the open bar and unlimited cocktails!

Overall our wedding was a huge success and it is one of the most special days of my life having everyone their to support us. Great memories!!
