Home For The Holidays

The weekend was extremely low-key around here after returning from vacation so I'm diving right into my travel recaps this week sharing some highlights from our trip to Trinidad & Tobago.

Christmas day was actually spent in airports and airplanes making our way home for a sunny vacation. Even though I've been living in the US for over 15 years now, I always say "home is where your mom is" and that would be Trinidad for me.

On Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) we went to lunch with close family and friends. We popped the traditional Christmas crackers and shared the cheesy jokes that come from inside them.

I got to meet my sweet God Daughter, Scarlett, for the first time and loved every minute of her smiles.

We went to a huge block party (or "fete" as it's called there) and had a blast. A friend of ours was the DJ and he really put on a good show. Us, old fogies, barely lasted until midnight.

The next day was Scarlett's Christening so all her God Parents and family gathered at the Church. It was hilarious because the priest kept calling her Charlotte instead of Scarlett.

The after-party was at my aunt's beautiful home in the mountains. We ate, drank, and cut the cake for miss Scarlett.

Then we were off to Tobago which is pure paradise!

It rained the first few days which was a bummer but the beautiful weather finally came out and we got lots of beach time with my parents and friends.

In the mornings, we enjoyed some pool time at our villa with Scarlett and "Rihanna the Rhino".

After 5 glorious days in Tobago, it was time to head back to the bustle of family and friends in Trinidad.

I got to catch up with the ladies over lunch and visit some more family before our vacation came to an end.

It was a wonderful trip and we weren't extremely happy to return to the cold but life and adulting happens.

All the R&R and some productivity around the house over the past weekend was much needed. The weather forecast says we're in for a frosty one this week. Stay warm my friends!
