Weekend Happenings

The weekend was a good mix of relaxing and fun with friends. That small time change for daylight savings gets me every time especially when you lose an hour of sleep so here's hoping this Monday goes by smoothly!

On Friday night we started planning some upcoming trips this year. Unfortunately we came to the realization that the big Europe trip we had hoped to pull together this summer is just not in the books and will have to wait until next year. We did decide on something more feasible and affordable.

Playa del Carmen here we come! I've never been to Mexico so this is just as exciting with a lot less time off of work and little planning involved since we'll be staying at an all-inclusive resort.

Most of Saturday was spent lounging around watching TV and catching up on some blogging. In the evening we headed out to Universal Studios to catch the Mardi Gras parade with friends and enjoy some Cajun food for dinner.

We met up with the birthday girl and and our awesome neighbors also happened to be at the park so so we all went over to see the UB40 concert after the parade.

Such a fun night out with the birthday girl and friends!

The time change had me all kinds of confused on Sunday morning because we had brunch reservations but that time came earlier than expected.

Brunching at a beautiful lakeside restaurant was the extent of our fun on Sunday. The bottomless mimosas and Eggs Benedict were wonderful but the service was horrendous and had me all kinds of hangry after waiting 20 minutes for a "bottomless" drink and almost an hour for our food since the waiter "lost our ticket". Anyways, after fueling up on some brunch and having a couple pineapple mimosas the frustration subsided and I was good again.

  5. I love Canva but every time I've been there the service hasn't been so great. Your brunch looked delish though! And don't you love just being able to pop over to Universal for a few hours? SO fun! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  7. What an awesome brunch spot-- we had to get up early on Sunday too and the time change didn't make that easy. You guys will have such a great time in Mexico, I've never been to Playa del Carmen, but have always had the best time in Mexico!

  8. That's a bummer that you have to move Europe to next year, but that totally means that you'll have time to plan the most epic trip ever! And you'll still get to vacation this year too which will be fun! The Mardi Gras celebration looks like so much fun at Universal Studios! I'd love to make it there one day to celebrate!

  9. Bummer about your Europe trip not working out, but YAY for Mexico. We stayed at an all inclusive in Mexico and I can't rave enough about it. We took a little day trip to Playa del Carmen, but didn't get to enjoy it a whole lot. The shopping is so much fun in that area and so are the beaches! Your weekend also sounds like a blast, minus the terrible service at brunch...20 minutes for a mimosa?!

  10. Your brunch looks soooooo goood!!!! Your Mexico trip still sounds like tons of fun and that just means you have even more time to plan something REALLY awesome next year for Europe!!! We are only going to our condo down in Gulf Shores this summer, and probably Gatlinburg for Christmas this year like we always do. No new places planned for quite some time with small fry in tow lol! Sounds like you guys had lots of fun at the Mardi Gras even too!

  12. I hate poor service!

Better to realize early that the pie in the sky vacation is not happening right now. You'll have a lovely time in Mexico!

  15. Bad service irks me more and more these days- I feel like it's so uncalled for in most situations. Unless you're new or you're short staffed it's otherwise pretty much more than frustrating hah- sorry for my rant. I used to waitress for several years and I think being on that side of it angers me as I see how ppl give bad service these days. On another note, yay for Mexico and a really fun Saturday! Hope you have a good week :)
